what I wore today - YouLookFab Forum

Ok, technically, this is not what I wore today, more like last week. I am participating in Hanna's challenge this week and whatever I end up wearing will be posted on those threads. In the meantime, I wanted to post this outfit before I forget.

3 reasons that I wanted you to see this outfit:
1) A couple of weeks ago in this post (http://youlookfab.com/2009/03/.....-necklace/) Angie posted a picture of her black belt with a lovely flower detail. I have been playing around with the idea of creating a crafty version. This is what I came up with thanks to flower pins from F21 (3.99 for 2) and faux snake skin belt that came with the skirt.

2) Some time ago in this thread (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....replies=18) Angie "ordered" me to get a pencil skirt saying that I was "made for pencil skirts." Being a pear, I was very skeptical of this proposition. However, I did keep my promise and finally purchased a pencil skirt in this beautiful gray color. Boy, was I wrong! The skirt makes me feel beautiful and voluptuous in a wonderful, feminine way! Thanks Angie!!! Unfortunately this skirt doesn't have lining so when it seems to pull up a bit when worn with nylons. It is a bit longer when worn alone, the perfect length.

3) Finally, I went ahead and purchased a chunky pearl necklace. I love it! I wear it with everything. Mine is unfortunately a fake one purchased on ebay but I think it still looks good:)

I am continually amazed and inspired at how polished and glamorous you look with pieces from modestly priced stores. Proof that you don't have to spend a fortune to look great- but I'm beginning to think there must be a secret to pulling it off successfully. Is it impeccable fit? All of your clothes look as if they were made for you.

Whatever the reason (and a large part of it must be innate style) you look absolutely beautiful.

Sinead - I don't really know if there is a secret. Maybe a combination of things: I only buy things that I really need and things that I absolutely love. They also must be in flattering colors. I own lots of purple, bright green and turquoise but no yellow or blue for example. Also, I don't shy away from trying new silhouettes but I try to pay attention to how they suit my shape. I like classic looks with feminine touches. And finally, if I don't feel good in an outfit before I leave home, I change into something else.
