As many of you know, my husband and I have been winding our way through the domestic newborn adoption process for many months now (years, actually). Last weekend we dropped off the last of the paperwork for our homestudy and took a short celebratory vacation to Seattle, expecting to wait at least a year and possibly several years before being matched with a baby.
Well! On the evening of May 5 we got a call that a baby girl had been born the day before and that her mother wanted us to be her parents! On May 8, the day before my 28th birthday, we brought our little Chickadee home. She's the most calm, peaceful, relaxed, happy, and, of course, BEAUTIFUL baby I've ever met. We love her so much already. She's currently sleeping in a laundry basket (when you have a grand total of 3 hours to shop for baby stuff, you make do! She does have a bassinet in the bedroom, don't worry.)
