Brianna - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! That's fantastic.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I can imagine your joy right now and I'm so happy for you! I'm sure you had the most delightful Mother's Day! Congratulations!

Brianna- congrats to you and your husband! (and the chick a dee, for she has scored some wonderful parents!)
That was the best Mother's Day present ever!

Congratulations! She is so beautiful and has beautiful, beaming proud parents! Enjoy these first days ... truly magical.

Congrats to you and your new family Brianna! Where can we send gifts?

I am *so* happy for you, Brianna! I'm sure you and your husband will be wonderful parents. Blessings to you and your family.

So happy for you, what a great looking family!!!

Thanks so much, everyone! We're having such a great time. She's a magical little being. We're even getting some decent sleep, knock on wood, since we can take turns on night time feedings (one of the only benefits of formula feeding!). My Dad bought us a great stroller so I'm looking forward to taking her on long walks starting tomorrow. We'll see how many of my non-gear shoes can stand up to daily walks.

Kathleen, you are sweet I'll post info on my blog. It's probably safe to put the URL here after all--it's bsquared.ca

That must have been the most beautiful birthday (happy belated birthday too!) and Mother's Day ever! Congratulations Brianna with your beautiful baby girl!

(both you and your husband look absolutely radiant, but sweet little Chickadee steals the show!-)

I saw this a couple of days ago. Just wanted to say congratulations to you and your husband. How wonderful and exciting this must be.

I'm so sorry I missed this earlier! I am SO SO SO happy for you! Congratulations!!!! What a wonderful gift! You are an outstanding mom from the get go! Just think lots of hugs and excited exclamation points from me.

Hi Brianna,

congratulations to you both on your beautiful new baby girl. I read your post (blog) and noticed you mentioned oma and opa, are you or your husband dutch?? I only asked as my husband is dutch and that is what my 2 kids call his parents.

Enjoy your time with your special little one, time goes by so fast. Good to hear you are both going to share night time feeds (it will help ).

Look forward to more posts (both of your outfits (and of course babies)). Have you named her yet?

It looks like we need a password Brianna. Can't wait to see more pictures.

Yes san, please email me for the password.

mscholtz, my husband and his whole family are very Dutch indeed! So is my stepdad, who is going to go by Pake, which is a Friesan term for Grandpa.

We have named her (we've had a name picked out for a long time), but I don't want her to be Googleable--I'm sure you understand. I can tell you indirectly, though. Her first name is the same as the author of A Wrinkle In Time, our favourite writer and also the French version of Magdalene, as in Mary Magdalene, my favourite Bible character. Her first middle name, which is the same as mine, is this (the L word): http://www.beautyhabit.com/med.....tig.02.jpg And her second middle name is the name of the eighth book of the Old Testament (starts with an R). This is the middle name of my sister, my husband's sister, and my Granny.

A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books. What a beautiful name you have chosen.

I posted my congratulations on your Unfashioned blog but wanted to say it again. Being an adoptive mommy is so awesome!

Brianna - congratulations! Your story is so sweet and you all look sooo happy in your photo! I can't imagine how ecstatic you must be! The name is absolutely gorgeous, but chickadee couldn't be a sweeter nickname!

Thanks Brianna, what a lovely name. Do you speak Dutch at home? We are bringing our kids up to be bi-lingual - my inlaws speak to them in dutch whilst it is english at home (unless they want to use the dutch words for things ) - my dad spoke spanish as well, so they are also learning that too - although from school and from me.

So much to look forward to, good luck to you all

Congrats Brianna! Chickadee is so cute and the name you picked for her is beautiful. It must have been a wonderful birthday and Mother's Day for you.

i saw this thread earlier but had no time to comment. brianna, i just wanted to say this little tale brought tears to my eyes! you are absolutely glowing in the picture, and the little chickadee, well, she's perfection. as for the name you picked out - it is absolutely beautiful (also figuring it out from the hints was like a puzzle, and i love puzzles. i'm such a nerd :P).

this must have been the best birthday/mother's day for you! keep us updated on little chickadee i'm sure she'll grow up to be as stylish as her mom

THANK YOU!!! We love her name and have had it picked out for years--we didn't know if we'd ever get to use it, so it's pretty exciting.

mscholtz, unfortunately, we don't speak Dutch. Mike's parents speak some, but mostly the language wasn't passed down by their parents after they immigrated. We both are trying to learn Spanish, though, since we work in and visit Central America often. We hope to put Chickadee in French Immersion (we're Canadian) for school so that she will be at least bilingual in our country's official languages.
