So I found this retailer through Shop Style. They are having a sale. Great! Except that they seem to have no jeans above a size 28, no tops above a medium.
Anyways maybe they should revamp their philosophy, above a size six need not be part of out tribe

Not only annoying, but really bad business sense. Why cut out a significant piece of the shopping population? Wouldn't any retailer want to make the most sales possible?

Well... it was my intent to poke around, but they have an annoying pop-up trying to get my email address - with no handy 'x' to close the annoying pop-up. Strike 3, I guess!

It seems strange to me that a company wouldn't offer anything at all above a 28 or medium? Are they reselling overstock or something?

I have some words for them, but they're not language suitable for a public forum.

It's a shame, because there are some great designers & pieces on the site, but it looks like at least three potential customers just on this thread will not be shopping with them.

I know most of their brand selection. I know they make larger sizes.
I decided to send them an email enquiring about their size selection.
I seriously doubt every woman in LA is a size six or less, which seems to be their target demographic.
I will be very curious as to how they respond.

I remember when I was a teenager back in the 70s there was a store called 5-7-9 because those were the only sizes they carried! So that was their demographic - teenagers who fit those 3 sizes. Kinda narrow demographic but I think they lasted several years. No snob factor intended I think, or they (or I) were oblivious maybe.

5-7-9 is still around! I just looked them up online. I remember them especially from my teenagerhood in the early 90s; there was a store in the closest mall. But I at 5'9" and larger boned went straight from girls sizes to a juniors 11 or 13. Never got to shop at that store, which is where all the cool girls shopped.

Size 6 is a large. Ahahaha!

This girl's mom sits around a lot talking about "small featured blonds like us." Also she and mom live off of gin and saltines. I know how it is. You have to have compassion: they're all traumatised by the alcholism and are faint from hunger.

Indeed, they must be catering to really wealthy people who buy a lot of clothes and can't be in a store with bigger sizes or something.. weird.

I remember 5-7-9! That was the first time I'd ever seen a size 0! I had a friend who was extremely small boned. It made sense for her.

I'm so glad that we have so many more choices now. And that includes the choice to not shop at stores that don't carry anything like an average range of sizes without having a basis for it. No one likes being sized out. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if they were clear that they were catering to women who might otherwise be sized out on the smaller size range, but there's something weird about the obliviousness of this. It's kinda like the weird disconnect I felt when I was paging through Harper's Bazaar yesterday at my hair cutter's. HB had a huge article on overdone plastic surgery. However, undergirding it all was the basic assumption that of course one has plastic surgery and of course all of one's friends do too. Totally alien to my mindset and incredibly disquieting.

I don't think the larger sizes sold out, because the sizes say sold out next to it. I tried several items, especially in jeans.

OOOH They just responded to my email. I'm actually more infuriated. If you need to be limited, then limit the product range, not the sizing.

Thank you for your feedback. We completely understand your viewpoint, however we are a newer company, and as we are just starting out our buying team has had to stay limited on sizing. As we expand in brands and grow as a company, we plan on carrying a larger range of sizes, and apologize that at this time we do not have a more diverse selection for you to shop from. Our demographic is not relative to a size, but to a mindset of having innate style with originality and authenticity. We hope this answers your question, and that we can offer more to all our shoppers in the near future.

Ditto what Dana said. That sentence was a real loser for me too. It suggests style is a dress size, which we all know it isn't. Apparently they need to grow up a bit to learn that.

It translates to me that ... our size demographic is original and authentic. If you are outside our size demographic, suck balls.

It makes so much more sense to me to limit the items you carry but have a full range of sizes if your goal is to build a customer base that likes your look. Even if you just have a few of each item per size and they sell out, at least you get an idea of demand in those sizes.

Not to be a spanner here, but would people be so upset if the sizes offered were, say, 4, 6, 8, 10, instead of 0, 2, 4, 6?

I'm also thinking of how Angie sometimes notes that higher-end designers have sizes that run small. I wonder if smaller-size people account for a disproportionate amount of purchases for high-end clothing? This site appears to be all high-end designer stuff, so that could explain the skewed sizing for their startup inventory.

Perhaps they felt they had to decide between breadth of merchandise and range of sizes offered due to initial start up constraints. They can't have it both ways though- we aren't basing our business aspirations on clothing size, yet that variable will preclude many from shopping with us. Huh- agree with others that their response was disingenuine at best.

Gigi, I suspect the cause and effect are reversed; smaller people buy more high end clothing because they it is available to them and they CAN, while larger sizes are (ironically) slim pickings, just as petites are often relegated to the Frumpsville wasteland of department stores.

The implication is that they mainly carry sizes for the 0-6 people because they consider that demographic to have innate, authentic style. I think it's deliberate, and it ticks me off sorely, even though I am within their size range.

Gigi, a good proportion of their designers are available in other sites with a bigger size range. They really don't have a lot of exclusive designers. They seem to have a vision, which I am not a welcome participant at being an 8-10. I know some designers seem to think I am an abhorrent cow at my size, but mostly they are very small and limited. Plus I think Angie said the most sold size is in the 8-10 range. FWIW.
