Thanks for the thoughtful responses! Yesterday was the first day of school for my daughters. I forget how hectic these first few days can be. Sorry for my delayed response. Glory asked in my other thread if I have any trouble getting these on my injured leg and I didn’t want to bump the thread up to respond so I’m responding here.
@Glory: The Veronicas just slip on--much like the Carsons. They are roomy and ever so comfortable. The require a little tugging to get off on the bad foot but I can see how my ankle is loosening up and will eventually be able to slip them off like I do on the good foot. Thanks for asking
@Susan: Thank you. You expressed what I meant about the color so well. I had a pair of black/brown boots that I could wear with anything until I wore them into the ground. I’m hoping these will work the same. IKWYM about the white jeans--truth be told, I’ve never worn white jeans with boots (and I’m still not sure when I will--maybe fall?) I feel similarly about white and boots in California--it doesn’t strike me as seasonally confused on others (in other climates) but I never see it around here.
@Classically Casual: Thank you. Lol about the mold like spots--I think it is the burnishing effect. They are kind of mottled but very subtle. They are super comfy too.
@Caro: Thanks! I was browsing the fall magazines and I saw nothing but skinny jeans--the tight kind. Of course, I’m not necessarily a trend follower or in my 20’s but I think skinnies are still very on trend. In fact, I think slouchy might be more fringe these days (but it is still very much my style preference.)
@peekaboo: Thanks! I noticed the baggy knees in the white jeans too. I think those might be the skinniest jeans I own--they all seem to do that when I tuck.
@deb: Thanks! I was so excited to read that Angie’s post about tall boots coming back. Finally, I’m on trend!
@Mona: Thank you! You won’t be disappointed if you get the Frye’s--they are really beautiful!
@Thistle: Thanks for your honesty. I was wondering if the black might look too harsh with the boots. They are definitely more brown than grey.
@pastrygirl: Thank you. They are a great neutral. I’m trying to figure out what won’t go with them!
@pil: Thanks! I haven’t cut the tags yet but I’m leaning towards keep
@Suz: Thank you. At the rate my hair is greying, I’m thinking the mottled boot will bookend my hair before too long. The shaft of the boot measured from the instep to the top is 14”. I think that is probably my maximum boot height. They are rugged but the color and craftmanship add a richness that makes them seem rather polished--at least to me. They are very comfy, I might add. And, TTS. I am normally always a 7 and I got these in a 7 RE: the jeggings--yes, I hear you no tight. I’ve been wearing nothing but baggy britches these days so they seem even more tight to me than I think they would have a year or two ago. I picked them up from TJMaxx and there were no larger sizes--I may just return and try the Always Skinny in Gap (in grey.)
@shevia: Thank you. I think my WIW looks like something I could see you wearing
@Marley: Thanks. I appreciate your honesty. They feel fine but I have a hard time imagining me reaching for them because they are so form fitting. I’ve got them in the bag to return.
@Firecracker: Thanks! I’ve definitely been gravitating toward neutrals these days--except for my yellow shorts. I appreciate your input on the pants too. I think the fact that I wondered if they looked too tight means that they are too tight for me!
@Lisa: Thanks. I sized up in the leggings--I think I’m better off with the Skyline skinnies rather than the Verdugo jegging. The only plus is that they are so easy to tuck into the boots.
@rae: Thanks! Glad you said brown highlights and not grey--lol! I do think these will be versatile for me.
@Tex: Thanks! I totally agree about the non-matching colors. I always feel too tough (or matchy matchy) when I wear a black jacket and black boots. I think this more neutral color looks much softer. I like that the finishes are different too.
In conclusion, I think the jeggings are fine but I think they are too tight for me. I’m so used to loose jeans that I’m not sure how much I will be reaching for these. I’m planning on trying the Gap Always Skinny in a size up (in grey) to see if those might be a little less body hugging but still tapered enough to jam into the boots
