I watch television. Just putting it out there. I don't feel bad about it; I think there is a lot of really great stuff on TV, and I work hard, and television is a way that I relax. There are few shows that I really follow closely and care about; I'm really more of a grazer (in fact, fashion drives a lot of my viewing - even more than acting or plot). (I also read a ton, lest you believe I am a heathen or something.)

I posted yesterday about being fashion-inspired by a character on the mediocre show Madame Secretary. I watch Elementary (adore Jonny Lee Miller and anything Holmesian) and always look at what Lucy Lui is wearing (much of the time, it's current Zara) - I also love how Jonny Lee Miller dresses. Occasionally I will look at the fashion on The Good Wife, but it was much more fun when Archie Panjabi was around; I think Alicia dressed better then, too. And the best couture-professional wardrobes are on Suits, for sure. It's like a fashion show every week.

I love Elementary for more than fashion, but yes, I often want what Lucy Lui is wearing.

I also have an anti-inspiration. When I was going through my big purge I used Amy on The Big Bang Theory as my decision maker. If I thought Amy would wear it, I tossed it. Love her, don't want to dress like her!

Do movies count?

If so, Trinity from the Matrix trilogy.

You would never guess, because of how frequently I resort to jeans + sweater combo these days . Sigh. But I do have a hard edge that makes the occasional appearance and that draws inspiration from her. I absolutely love her style, and notice it every time any of the Matrix movies are on.

Meanwhile, I don't recall any outfits from SATC.

I used to watch Castle, and now only see it occasionally in reruns Sunday late night. But I enjoy the clothes Kate Beckett, the detective, wears. Mostly I love the great jackets and coats. Maybe because that's mostly all that people see me wear. Someone here mentioned this website. It's fun to look up outfits.

There's a Japanese show streaming on Netflix, Atelier, about a high end custom lingerie maker, and the clothes that the founder woman wears are absolutely gorgeous - high end elegance.

Other than that, not a lot of new shows. I'm a hockey fan and I like to notice what Kathryn Tappen wears when she's anchoring the commentators, especially since she's usually the only woman involved, and she has some great dresses.

Gilmore Girls was my ultimate style inspiration back in the day - I'm really curious to see what they do with Lorelei and Rory's wardrobes for the reunion shows.

Am I allowed to say Mad Men, or is that too obvious?

For clothes and only clothes I recommend BBC's Ashes to Ashes. The show itself is very silly but Keeley Hawes '80s wardrobe is brilliantly done.

I watch a lot of tele too. HIGH FIVE, Viv. It's very, very relaxing. No need to defend the habit!

I think Alecia Florrick does the professional lawyer best. She is WOW on that show. And with the best voice on television.

Suits is a well written show, with a great high-end designer fashion show. Highly inappropriate clothing for the legal environment despite the fab eye candy.

Lucy Lui is ADORABLE in every way.

YES, Liz. Ashes to Ashes is a fun take on '80s looks.

Covert Affairs's, "Annie" has great CIA style.

That '70s Show's fashion is HILARIOUS. I love looking at what the kids and adults wear. The hair especially cracks me up.

Although I did not enjoy the well produced series, Robin Wright's wardrobe on House of Cards was the highlight of the show. Designer meets Zara. My best, although I am not a neutral gal.

Have never been a fan of Sex and the City. The characters and their styles leave me cold.

Scandal's Olivia Pope's wardrobe was fun to watch for a while, but the show drove me bananas so we had to stop. I loved all her white outfits.

I don't think any "current" show beats Mad Men for fashion and style. You can photograph any scene in that show and it's a beautiful work of art. The clothes, paintings, decor, food, cars and houses. WOW on steroids. Takes my breath away.

I watch a lot of TV, usually it's just background. I am tired of the female news people in sleeveless sheath dresses. ( Fox ) I agree with Angie, Mad Men is perfect. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and those looks are what I remember. But my favorite for fashion is Downton Abbey. There was a scene a few weeks ago where Anna was helping Mary into a dressing gown and Mary's lingerie was exquisite! And I love how the fashion evolved during the time period of the series.

Fabulous and sexy outfits.
Have you seen Shitts creek? The clothes are used as comedy almost every episode.
Do period dramas count? I love to look at the costumes in Dowton Abbey, Selfridges, the Paradise.
Also love the contrast of clothes between Sherlock and Holmes in, you guessed it, Sherlock.

I like the Gilmore Girls fashion, Lorelai's shift dresses, turtlenecks and denim jackets, and Rory's style during the time when she cut her hair and went to university.
I also like Jessica Day's looks from New Girl.

Another Elementary fan here! Lucy Liu was one of my inspirations for pairing ankle boots with dresses. I realized you DON'T have to have legs a mile long to rock the look! Also love Jonny Lee Miller's style, and I've even bought my hubby a few things inspired by Sherlock style. I bought him some cool lace-up boots, a vest, and a blazer over the last year. Luckily he's receptive and enjoys dressing up for a night out!

I tell everyone to check out "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries". It's an Australian series set in the 1920s. The styling is amazing! You can catch it on Netflix.

I am enjoying a show about buying and altering Vintage Fashion at the moment. 'This Old Thing' with Dawn Porter.
Dawn wears some lovely pieces as the host, and they give some really good tips about altering Vintage outfits into something more current and unique.

I love Lucy Lui from Elementary as well. I also like Grace Park's wardrobe in Hawaii Five-O for summer beachy inspiration.

I always have one or two series that I watch in one form or another. From a fashion/clothing perspective I have enjoyed:

- Mad Men
- Game of Thrones
- House of Cards
- Downton Abbey
- Indian Summers
- The Fall

A couple of shows I enjoyed last year but the fashion is non-existent are Homeland and True Detective.

Andie - you and I must be TV soulmates. I too loved Robin Wright's outfits on HoC but could not get into the show, and I also adored Olivia Pope's wardrobe but had to stop watching because it just became ridiculous. And I thought I was the only person left cold by SATC! Plot, writing, and in particular clothes - I couldn't get behind any of it.

I also love the clothes on The Good Wife and Miss Fisher in particular.

The fashion from Clueless was a turning point in my teenage years! I think that's where my

previous maximal persona originated.

For the Canadians in the group, I enjoy the clothing the ladies wear on The Social, but i sometimes feel that they are so dressed up and made up that they look like decorative dolls more than actual hosts. I wonder if 4 men would dress up that much of they were the hosts.

I drooled over Claire's wardrobe in House of Cards.

Lucy Lui's wardrobe in one particular series of Elementary (can't tell you which) was fantastic. I think she wore a bit of Allsaints?? I would watch, then go play in my wardrobe to see what and how I might reproduce what I had seen her wear lol

Michonne, in The Walking Dead (please don't judge me!! Master 12 and I are completely addicted to this. We are now on Series 3)

Gillian Anderson, The Fall. Killer wardrobe. So not me, but I found myself wanting to go and buy soft toned, silk blouses:)

LOVED Game of Thrones - brilliant show - and the clothing is very, very creative and interesting.

I enjoyed the fashion on Downton Abbey too.

I love watching television and feel no shame about it. It's such a great way to relax and switch off.

I can remember loving the fashion in TV shows as a teen, and I still do today. In fact, a costume designer would have been my dream job. If only...

I remember the excitement when Jeannie (I dream of Jeannie) would wear civvies and I loved Samantha's groovy outfits (Bewitched).

Others I can think of not already mentioned:
SATC: Carrie's Dior newspaper dress
The Real Housewives: Mostly an exercise in what not to wear, but interesting to watch, particularly the Melbourne version where they often wear local designers
Technically not TV shows, but on TV
Anything with Dianne Keaton: she does killer B & W looks
The Women original version: Vintage glam outfits

A local show called winners and losers: I've been watching it on Netflix and really enjoying how the fashion develops for each character (and seeing one character wear some dresses I own!)

Phew! I find watching tv incredibly relaxing (my work is very people oriented) but my DH teases me about what I like to watch lol. So Angie thanks for the validation:). I agree The Walking Dead is quite brilliant but there are some people that can't get passed the "zombies" to see what the show is really about :).

Ditto Downton Abbey (love the headbands, but only wore one at my wedding in the 80s in place of a full veil!) and Madmen. The sixties are very me, as I also came of age then and in the 70s. Can't miss an episode of Project Runway. I get lots of inspiration there!

Love the costumes on Downton Abbey. Am also entertained by the OTT costumes on Empire. What will Cookie wear next? Doesn't every ex-con dress like her when released from prison?

House of Cards,Downton Abbey, Suits (although I haven't watched it in awhile), and I used to enjoy seeing what Olivia Pope was wearing, but the show made me crazy and I stopped watching it after the first two seasons. I too liked seeing what GA was wearing in The Fall. But I watch maybe 1 show a week unless I'm binging on some series - tv is mostly used for hockey game watching Interesting to see what other women are watching. I read to relax instead. (I watch Good Wife, but find JM's wardrobe kind of snooze-worthy now. )

Rachel Green from Friends for all the turtlenecks and close-fitting black and white looks.

Was watching Katherine Hepburn in BRINGING UP BABY today and there were two dresses I would have loved to have worn as well. Perfect slim midi style.
