The Pink Send Off: Thinking of those Affected by Cancer

Many thanks to all who wore pink this month. It means a lot to me, and to my Mama on her big fluffy cloud in the sky. Pink was her favourite colour and she died of liver cancer in 12 weeks 13 years ago at age 59.

Please help me fill up this thread by posting your pink outfits as a way of supporting those affected by Cancer as they undergo brutal treatment. We are also celebrating with Cancer survivors, and thinking deeply of those who passed away.

I'll start the ball rolling with my new shocking pink man coat, which I have worn almost exclusively this month. Remember that any shade of pink counts, and you can post any outfit that incorporates pink. You needn't have worn it this month.

Well shocking pink (although I never called it that before) is one of my favorites so I'm adding what pictures I could find. Thinking of DH's family which has been devastated by breast cancer. He's lost an uncle, grandmother and two aunts. His mom and young cousin are survivors and many more cousins are taking precautionary measures due to carrying the gene. xoxoxo

Thinking of all my friends and family, both here and IRL, who have been affected by cancer.

Here are the two pink outfits that I actually photographed in October. The third one (pink handknit hoodie) was from September, although I did wear the hoodie as well (and didn't take photos) in October.

My thoughts are with all those dealing with cancer, either now or in the past with loved ones. I haven't commented on specific personal threads here, as I find it soooo very personal that I feel very awkward with cyber compassion.

Thinking of all those affected by cancer. From my grandfather who died at 59 from lung cancer, to my aunt and uncle who died in their early 50s from colon cancer, to all the YLFers here affected by it.

Pink is not a great color for me, bu here are two from the past year, and bonus pic of DD from this October sporting pink.

Although this is a very pale shade, I still consider this blush jacket to be in the pink family.

Thinking of those on YLF who are dealing with cancer, my cousin and best friend who died in our early 20's from breast cancer, and my sister - who is a breast cancer survivor.

My husband's cousin died of cancer a few months ago. So did the mother of a good friend. That really has brought it back to my attention.
Sandy and Tanya, although you don't know me, I am thinking of you and wishing you lots of strength!

You all know I spent the past year helping my best friend through her husband's battle with cancer. Someday there will be a cure... Love and strength to all who need it.

Well, this was going to be a K/R thread, but off come the tags and on goes the pink! It's actually neon -- which makes me happy on a gloomy Halloween! I have a lesson to teach later, which means I'll try to use this sweater in a "teach from home" look.

Here's my meager attempts at pink. The cardi in #3 got purged, despite it's fabulous orchid color (I didn't like the puffy sleeves, and decided that I already have too many sewing projects). And the pink jeans in #4 are waiting until spring for me to try them again.

And I'm remembering a few women that I'm hoping to see again someday (soon, in the case of my grandmother). Julie, my personal assistant in my wedding died in her twenties from breast cancer, and my grandmother (still living, though far away), is a recent survivor of the same. Love you ladies!

I am thinking of everyone who has been affected by terrible cancer, especially my late Mom and my husband who endured arduous treatments and surgeries. He reached 5 year survivorship of a rare head & neck cancer this spring.

I just remembered the photo I posted with hot pink ankle strap shoes. I think that's the only pink I own, but here it is.

My postdoctoral fellowship funding was from a cancer research foundation, and it led me to focus more on cancer research in my own lab. I'm amazed by some of the scientific advances that have come out, but I'm also very aware of how awful cancer is for victims and their loved ones. My sympathy to everyone affected by the disease.

What a wonderful tribute, and so moving to see the outfits and hear everyone's stories.

I've got three for the month, from blush to berry.

One's a bit of a cheat, since I'm sending the Zara jacket back. But I did wear it that afternoon. Today's outfit is the last one.
