The New Bags - YouLookFab Forum

I mentioned in my August update that I added 2 handbags to my collection last month. Jenn wanted to see them...so here they are.

#1 - Taupe and Black Winged Tote:

This is the bag my husband brought for me from his London trip. It's from H&M. It's a very standard shape and size for me....large enough for traveling as well as running errands, and a structured shape that goes well with my dressing style. I used to have the exact same combination matching sandals that I wore with my cobalt blue dress last month; but those were purged immediately afterwards as they weren't comfortable. Too bad, eh? #2 - Red and Beige Bucket Bag/Backpack:

This is quite a HEWI - a bucket bag that's also a backpack with shades of red! I don't have any casual handbags...but Ankita has several bucket bags and I always find them very cute. For myself, I prefer more structured totes, leather satchels and bowling bags, but this fun looking bag grabbed me the moment I laid eyes on it. I got it at a thrift shop so it's extremely inexpensive and I'm very sure it won't last very long. But I don't intend to use this bag a lot! It'll be used for special outfits when I want to add a bit of colour and drama to a plain/dull outfit. Or I'm wearing a cute tshirt with casual skirt/shorts. I'm not very sure if I'll enjoy using a casual design like a bucket bag cum backpack, so I'm glad to be experimenting with a very inexpensive bag. And I do love the fun design!

They are very nice bags and almost completely opposite. The first bag is quite ladylike and has a Jackie O feel. The second one is quite sporty. Nice finds and nice of your hubby to buy you a bag while travelling for work.

Thanks Cheryle. I know these are quite opposite! Like I said, bag #1 is more ME. Bag #2 is a gamble It's just 2 days old in my wardrobe, so we will find out how it fares!

Hahaha Abc....I didn't ask him to buy me this. I asked for a red winter coat....and he came home with this bag and a bodycon black dress I can't wear without looking like a sausage

I swear, abc! The poor guy wanted to 'surprise' me with a dress in black.....too bad it was a wrong style for me. Though he gets 100/100 coz it was in fact the right size! (Just too obscene to wear!) ;P

Reserve it for the bedroom capsule ............. haha

Fun bags! The first one, especially, looks perfect for you, and I can't wait to see how you style the second!

Ahmmm.....I'm a little worried about that myself Jenn I may have to experiment a bit to be able to style #2! Currently, I'm not very sure how it'll fit into my slightly dressy style. I may end up using that bag a lot more often for vacations....though I am going to try adding it to a few weekend outfits. The very casual/sporty vibe of that bag requires super casual dressing.

I love looking at bags. They are my favorite fashion item and the first thing I notice in every single outfit. My favorite is the tote. I say this based on personal preference. I need big sturdy totes to cart my life around. I always wonder if all my possessions would disappear into the black hole of a bucket bag. Have you found this to be an issue?

Sterling, you read my mind! Yes, I suspect my possessions will disappear into the dark hole of a bucket bag. However, I do plan to use a bag organizer. I use one for all my large totes as well. Bucket bags are NOT easy to carry if you have too much in your bag. Since this bag is new in my wardrobe and yet to go on its first outing, I don't know how it will fare. I'll keep you posted!
