Here are my outfits from this week. It sort of started as winter and ended up as spring:

The Saturday outfit is a shameless copy of Angie's from her turquoise scarf blog post: denim jacket, pencil skirt, bright scarf with a contrasting bright top, cream bag and white watch. Plus, the turquoise BR top was featured on her turquoise blog, and nude micro fishnets and slouchy chestnut boots ended up in my wardrobe due to her recommendation. So basically the whole outfit is Angie all the way - I couldn't stop thinking about her all the day yesterday while wearing it.

I have a question regarding my Friday jeans- those are the lightest colored jeans I own. Are they light enough to be considered 'faded' as on Angie's recent blog post or are they still just a regular medium wash?

You look great every day! I love you patent leather black boots. They are really popular here in The Netherlands. I'd say the jeans are medium wash, but not sure. They still look smart.

Dear Tanya,

Would you perhaps consider having a 'not so great outfit' day once in a while, say, about once every five months or so?

If that's just not possible, then please let me know forthwith. I'll have to start looking for a dictionary with more superlatives, I'm quickly running out of them.

P.S. Thursday and Saturday are totally droolworthy (note to self: go buy some nude micro fishnets). And I love the teal short-sleeved cardi with the purple shirt + berry cowl neck sweater!!

You say so true to your style, no matter what the season. You are so urban, polished and feminine. I love Sundays outfit with the graphic tshirt. I think that the jeans are faded. I do not know if there is a specific wash implied with that term. I love you in vests. Do you have to have them tailored to fit your tiny waist? Would you mind letting me know where you get them? I have been looking for one.

Tanya, I feel like Inge in that I feel like I am running out of adjectives to describe all your amazing looks (I also feel that way about Antje, Shiny, Kyle and several others on the forum). I guess all I can say is wow!

Inge, you are too sweet. *blushing even more* You know, I do feel that I do have 'not so great outfit' days, for example here is the one from previous week:

GG, I get most of my waistcoats at H&M. I am lucky that their size 4 fits me right of the rack so I do not have to tailor them ( I get tired and annoyed with all the tailoring I have to do). Plus they are quite inexpensive (usually $25-$30 range). The black one I am wearing today is from them. Yesterday when I was at the mall they had oodles of them and I tried and fell in love with quite a few summery versions ( off-white, light blue/white pinstripe etc.). I hope they are still available in June when my shopping ban ends. The also had a lovely light-ish brown one that would be the most perfect color for you. So when you are around an H&M give it a try, I am sure they will fit you too. Express is another good store for them.

The school is going so-so. I have finished many things but there are so many more left to do that I do not feel I am accomplishing anything. That's why I took a break yesterday, I was feeling really burned out.

Jean, I think the caption said the dark vest was from H&M and the cream was from VS (I'm assuming that's Victoria's Secret?) Let me know if I'm wrong, Tanya. I'm also on a vest hunt, after being inspired by all the great looks here. Hard to fit my long torso, though. All the vests I've tried on seem to emphasize my lack of proportion.

Tanya, thanks so much for posting your outfits. You always look great and it's helpful for those of us who are learning how to layer and mix things to see such a perfect example. Can I ask, how long did it take you to get such a great wardrobe?

Thank you for your kind words Sinead! Yep, you are right, VS does stand for Victoria's Secret. You know, I am also very long waisted. I think that with vests they do not have to be the perfect long length. In fact, I believe that it is better if they are shorter ( like my black one) and then you have your top peaking beneath and the horizontal lines kind of break up the whole torso area so it appears shorter. I could be wrong though.

To answer your other question, I have always been interested in clothes and managed to pick up some good pieces on instinct ( e.g. wrap tops). But it is only since I discovered YLF about 18 months ago that my wardrobe came to it's place. I had many cute pieces, but no outfits, didn't use accessories at all etc. I also didn't know about the proper length for many garments, wore beige next to my face etc. SO all of that has changed thanks to Angie & YLF. So maybe the short answer is on the order of two years.

Tanya, you didn't even have to point out which one was Angie-inspired; the popped collar on the denim jacket gave it away! It's a great look for both of you.

I love all the color you bring into your outfits, but I have to confess Thursday's is my hands-down favorite outfit. I like it particularly because it has a different silhouette than your other days do; normally you wear your tops over your pants, and with a cami underneath for color variety and then your fab shoes, my eye is usually drawn instinctively down. With the higher waist and the tucked in sweater on Thursday, my eye sees all of you, and oh my gosh your legs look like they go on for a mile and a half! FAB. Plus, I love the b&w pattern on the top. So elegant and bold!

Wow, you are such an inspiration - it's hard to pick a favorite. I love teal with purple, and short sleeve over long sleeve layering so it might be that one- but I love the waistcoats and the pencil skirt one too....it's too hard to pick! I seem to remember that you work in a lab? I used to be an analytical chemist, and I was always the only one who seemed to care at all about fashion. I know how it is to be the only one! I bet you are a lovely sight for all the lab rats. Thank you for posting your outfits.

Kristen, I am actually wearing 4" wedges in that photo, which might explain why my legs look long ( they are not). And the vest is actually not tucked, but it has a black band over black shirt so it all sort of blends with the dark jeans. It is good to know that this is the type pf outfit I should wear when i want to look leggy.

Antje, sadly that little cardi is 4-5 years old. It is funny that you ask about it, since the layering was totally inspired by your outfits.

Asha, yep, I work in the lab, and I am the only one that cares about fashion there. The pencil skirt outfit was for the only day when I wasn't in the lab since I can not wear skirts there.

I love that short sleeved teal cardi too, Tanya. I may be able to salvage some button down shirts that would otherwise be wardrobe orphans with that kind of layered look. I also love you in the waistcoats - and every else, of course.

Thanks Cindy! I have found that, at least for me, the best way to wear button down shirts is to layer them under various pieces, especially if they are sleeveless, like knitted vests and woven waistcoats, or short sleeved sweaters. I especially like to wear a short sleeved argyle sweater over striped button-down shirt.

Tanya, you are sizzling all week. I'm with Inge on not having enough variety of superlatives. If I just said KILLER every week, would that get old? I really like the houndstooth vest outfit, just because it looks so sleek. And of course the Angie outfit is wonderful.

Maya, I have noticed that too It is funny, but than our Angie is a source of endless inspiration.

Lwc, the white watch is by Michael Kors and I got it at Nordstrom, they always seem to have something similar. The cream patent tote is from local Filene's Basement and about a year old.

My goal is to really "get it" (this dressing myself stylishly) like you do. You have totally figured out how to dress your body type wonderfully and it even looks comfortably and easily!
