Bella, you are very observant, I tend to gravitate towards black/grey/denim with occasional purple/teal when the weather gets cold.

The pattern mixing was inspired by an outfit in Stacey & Clintons book which they call " three patterns" - in their version the shirt was polka-dot and the pants pinstripe. I want to try that next time too. They say that it is OK to mix up to thee patterns as long as they are all in the same color palette and one is dominant ( argyl eher) while the other two are more like a backdrop.
