So, here is the skirt of controversy styled a few ways for your consideration.

As you can see from my pics, it has a slit up one side and a short underskirt so it is not see through all the way up. It is extremely light and floaty.

This skirt feels to me like an updated version of those floaty bias skirts or the Indian peasant skirts some of us wore in the 90s. It has a very "easy to wear" feel to it, and to be honest, if I worked in an office, this would be an absolute no brainer. I am just not sure I'll wear it enough in my casual life.

FWIW, Mr. Suz likes it a lot.

I am also trying out the FAB Nickel & Suede earrings/ cuffs that Lisa modelled and Inge introduced us to. These are brilliant because they are super lightweight. Perfect summer jewellery. I highly recommend them. I am going to be ordering more. I got cuffs in gold and white, and earrings in gold, silver, and white.

ETA: these are all basically versions of tucked tops or loose tanks with the skirt, and various jackets as possible toppers. 6 is some pattern mixing, 7 shows Celia's taupe top (waving to Celia!), 14 is with a crisp white shirt for a bit of contrast (floaty and crisp). I do have a few more options in the closet.

Because it is super light, it is most absolutely a summer skirt for my climate. No use in any other season.

Why would you not wear that skirt? I love all the many ways you have styled it here, especially with the print Equipment top, and also all the ways with the calf hair shoes. There's just something about matching it with a bolder print that I really love.

And those earrings -- aren't they great? I have them in citron. Had them in silver but I lost one, am about to place another order. I love how lightweight they are. They look terrific on you!

You've proven it works with your existing pieces. If it will serve a purpose on your upcoming trip (plus real life back at home) I vote keep.

My favourite here is #16 - I like the raspberry with it plus the untucked top.....

I am about to order another set of the earrings and cuff in silver myself:)

I vote keep! I like it in all of these iterations. The cat print blouse totally works! (That one I wouldn't have guessed.) It clearly dresses up nicely and gives you a fantastic option for summer dates or occasions. But it also dresses down very well. I especially like that split-back tank with it, and love, love #11. That's the kind of look I think you could wear as a shorts alternative. And #16, too, with the flatter sandals. I would even try it with the new Ecco sneakers. The jewelry looks great on you, too--clean, simple, modern.

I really like it, and I think it looks versatile enough to have a place in your closet... which just leaves it up to whether you feel you'll actually wear it.

My favourite stylings are with the denim jacket, which makes me think you may wear it a lot... that helps bring it into casual land.

Not crazy about it with tops tucked in - they make your torso look very square. one of my personal "things" on me, so I notice it on others. Also not crazy about it with the Converse, but I do like the white denim jacket a lot. And... much as I love the top in 3-5, not with this. Gives the upside down cone effect with the line of the shoulders.

But with a longer top or jacket - wonderful!

You absolutely should wear that skirt! It works really well with your other wardrobe items. I have to admit to not being as fond of it with your cat shirt, but apart from that I love it? Oh, and I would also love to see you do a semi tuck with some of the tops wear it is tucked on one side only to mimic the asymmetry of the skirt as well as add the structure you have with a full tuck.

I love that skirt on you. The black and the white tops are my favorite combinations and it looks great with the denim toppers and also with the chambray. It seems very versatile.
I agree with Diane on the cat shirt and I think the side tuck that she suggested would be very nice.
The only thing I would check is how see-through (or not) it is when you wear it on a sunny day and how functional the half slip of the skirt is but even that can be sorted adding a slip if you feel that you need it.
You have a tough choice to make on that beautiful skirt.

I'm going to be a spanner here.

I don't know about this skirt for you. I mean, it fits well and looks nice, but it doesn't seem like you. It's feminine and ladylike, but not crisp. It's more like something I would wear, but it would fit me differently (less voluminous) and I would RATE it up, which is not you either. It just seems a little too soft, voluminous, and boho for your style.

That said, I do like it a lot in 8 & 16 with the solid, simple, sleeveless tops. I think the skirt is a lot of skirt (both volume-wise and style-wise) so you need something simple up top, and I prefer bare arms with it to balance the longer length, especially since you prefer more covered shoes.

Well, this is so interesting! I am happy to see there is some controversy and disagreement! (Always makes life more interesting, ha!)

Joyce, it's totally okay in the light with the underskirt. Very see through elsewhere, but I'm fine with that -- I'm not wearing it to an office.

I figured people would either love the pattern mixed look or hate it and that seems to be the case.

I can try an asymmetrical tuck, Diane -- good idea.

Square torso, Elizabeth? Hmm.Interesting. Seems like maybe LisaP sees or thinks the same thing, since she prefers the untucked top. I don't really worry about looking square in that area, to be honest. To me, these are JFE looks, but I hope I'm not deluded. Some may depend on one's tolerance for tucking generally. I'm a tucker from way back.

The tank in 3-5 is loose and untucked. This was the tank that the sales associate sold me specifically to go with the skirt!

Anyway... I am totally okay with waist surrender myself, so it doesn't bother me. I wasn't sure about it with the Cons, either, but I needed to give it a try to see if I could dress it down successfully. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it as much as I'd expected. I would probably wear with the other footwear options.

If I go by FEEL, it feels easy. That's usually a good sign, right? But I'm still on the fence at the moment.

I like it in the 1-5, 10 and 14. Not so much in the others, but it's not like I dislike it (except sorry, I dislike #6 ).

I would say keep it if it wasn't pricey cause I'm concerned about your trip! I don't think you are used to these temps!

It isn't my favorite thing I've seen you wear but I don't get concerned over things not being a person's "usual style". Sometimes there is a reason to go against our usual style and a Canadian coming to hot temps would seem to be such a time. I mean if I were to visit you in February I'm assuming my winter coat wouldn't cut it either!

I love this skirt on you. It's unique and different from your other skirts, plus it looks both comfortable and stylish. All that equals a "keep!" to me!

PS - Thank you for the link to Nickel and Suede! I just browsed through their website and think I might order one of the leather cuff bracelets (either the silver or the gold metallic multi-strap one) - I haven't been wearing my big metal cuffs because they are too heavy/knock on my laptop too much while working, so I've been looking for leather ones instead.

I have to go with Diana here. The proprtion feels off to me in most of them. It just seems like a whole lot of skirt. I like it better with untucked tops and with the jackets because they help with some visual balance. All that to say I don't find it a traditionally flattering item. However, it is JFE, so if that works for you, then enjoy it.

I love it! I think it looks great on you. And very swishy, I love it when my skirts swish... Btw, I think this is definitely wearable in a casual setting. Pair something like the black tank top with it, get rid of the jewelry and add some casual shoes and you're definitely not too dressed up. I wear my skirts all the time, even for sitting around at home or grocery shopping.

Suz, try something for me? What happens if you shorten the whole skirt by, like, 2 inches (or whatever it takes to get the shorter side to your knee)? I think that might help.

Possibly one problem is that the slit doesn't show at all in these photos. It may be different in motion.

I really like it for you. It seems very versatile for dressing up or for more casual. It is really lovely on you! I read and looked at your pictures before reading any of the others' comments and thought right away that this skirt seems like Suz. After reading the comments and looking at the pics again I think that all the outfits are great and they all seem like your style.

I think it all comes down to this - how do you FEEL in that skirt? Do you find it light and comfortable? Are you loving the look of tucking in tops? Do you see yourself reaching out for it?

In my opinion, this skirt looks off-proportion with bulky tops tucked in. That includes all shirts. I like it best in #8 where the white tank creates a sharp, crisp contrast. I also like it in #2 and #16. If you see yourself wearing it a lot with floaty sleeveless tops and tanks, it's a good choice.

Diana -- I can try it, but honestly, if it needs an alteration, I'm not keeping it. It's too expensive for that. And the whole point was to have a midi. I do think in IRL the effect is a bit different because it's completely diaphanous. Very floaty.

I respectfully beg to disagree with the "it's not my style" comments. Yes, it's a bit of a departure from my recent tube skirts. (That's actually the point -- I want a departure.) But I have worn skirts like this for decades, off and on, in the summer. I think the fact that Mr. Suz liked it immediately and thought it was totally wearable indicates that it is not too "out there" for my summer style.

That's not a definitive reason to keep it, obviously. Just saying that it doesn't FEEL weird to me, or out of my style range. I don't feel like I am in costume. On the contrary, I feel perfectly comfortable and easy in it. (Leaving how it looks aside.)

I suspect that those of you who don't feel it is my style also think it does not flatter or isn't JFE. Which is totally worth hearing, and I thank you!

I think my own high tolerance for tucking might be unpopular here....hmmm. Too bad Angie can't weigh in. I'd love her take on it. I am wondering how much of the dislike stems from my relative high-waistedness? I actually like a shortened torso at times because I've always battled my short legs. But I do accept that not everyone agrees.

Just came back to say that I prefer it with the floaty tanks and tops - so #2, #7, #8 and #16. I also like the pullover in #13. I don't think the skirt works as well with anything overly structured. I'm not a fan of the looks with the button downs for example.I think you have to amp the swishiness up!

Suz, as much as I like the skirt (it is a dancing skirt!) I am not sure about it for you. From the pictures I like how it looks with denim jackets and some untucked tops (##5 and 16) but not with the tucked in tops.
We have pretty similar style preferences and I know that I have hard time wearing my flared skirts now so they do not see much action (except dancing). When I want to wear a skirt in summer I usually reach for a dress or VC tube skirt than for the flared skirts - and I work in the office.
Looking at the pictures I think it does not have enough structure for your style because if the fabric weight and the style. I know I would be hard pressed to style it to my liking (except for dancing with a fitted top).
So - how do you feel about it? If you love it and the way you style it makes your heart sing then disregard all ofthe above, wear it and enjoy...if not that I would return it and look for a lightweight dress or two for your trip.

PS Read your comment to Diana...it is not that I don't think it is your style, I am just coming from my own experience. I like a flared skirt in theory and get excited when I get one I like but I do have hard time wearing it and feel fab for some reason. I was so excited to get my Halogen striped skirt and I had great plans for it but end up not wearing it as often as I thought I would...

I have no logical explanation for it:-)

I think this skirt looks fab on you. Perhaps the mixed reactions have to do with style preferences. I like the tucked tops and the floaty ones...just depends on what vibe, where you are going, and how comfortable you will feel with your lifestyle.

I like the black and white sleeveless tops the most, and I think all the toppers work. The long sleeves work too, but when I see the skirt, I think breezy and the long sleeves counter that.

Personally, I would try a black casual tee with a semi tuck and the white converse as a bright pop.

Ooh, I love it with the toppers and the untucked fuschia shell. It's a fun piece for sure. Floaty and cool. The hemline is awesome. The only thing that gives me pause it seems like it shortens your torso (with the tucked tops) which isn't necessarily a bad thing--just different. I have a feeling this looks even better in motion. If you love it, I would keep it because you have so many styling options.

ETA: Love 5,7, and 8 too.

ETAA: Actually, after looking at the pics again, I think I'm just not used to seeing blousy tops tucked into a full skirt. Upon secondary review, I think all of these look fab.

I'm no skirt expert but I really like it. I started to point out which outfits I like best but I like most all of them - esp. with the black sleeveless shell and the raspberry shell for a dressier look, and with the denim jackets (love the white one) and chambray for more casual.

How do you like those Ecco sandals? I've been enjoying mine.

Well, I love it on you, Suz. My favorite is with the black tank and least favorite are the black kimono jacket and white denim jacket. Not that I don't like them but I just like the others better
