Skirt outfits - YouLookFab Forum

A couple of skirt outfits. What do you think of these? Do you like the orange top with the sweater...maybe it would be better with a cardi? How about the blouse only for summer -- do you like it tucked in?

This is the J Crew denim skirt I've been watching for months and finally bought. I had it tailored and wonder if it might be a tad tight...though it does have lots of stretch.
The orange top has been in my closet for months and I've not yet worn it-- the color was not flattering when I was brunette:

This is a Nanette Lepore skirt with lots of ruching that I've had for a year or more, worn with an after Christmas JC Penney $7 sweater. Do you think it's OK tucked? Seeing the photo I think I might go for a different shoe, maybe something more neutral, and I'm not sure about the tights, either.

I Love the orange ruffled shirt with both the sweater and on its own. The skirt does not look too tight to me at all. I love your hair back to blond, it seams so natural with your skin tone. I think I would like to see another bright accessory, in the outfit with the sweater, a bag perhaps? The orange seems kind of lost up there only around your face. Not so at all on its own.
The Nanette Lepore skirt is great!! It looks perfect with a tucked in shirt. I think the tights are fine, I am not sure about the shoes, maybe others will have better opinions on them.

I think the J Crew skirt fits you perfectly. It looks like a great classic piece. You look good in orange. I agree with GG about the orange sort of being lost when paired with the sweater. What about another sweater or cardi that shows more of the shirt?

I love the outfit with the Nanette Lepore skirt. I think the shirt tucked in looks fine and I don't see any problem with the skirt and shoes. You look great!

What about adding some accessories to the first outfit to tie all the colors together? A bangle, or a cocktail ring (my personal favorite), or like others said, maybe a bag. But I do like your putting blue and black together, alot of people think this can't be done but you have done it well!

Re: the second outfit. Again I think you need some accessories. This time, not to tie the colors together, but to add a third color; a punch! Different shoes might be the perfect way to do that. Maybe a show that is black and wine or purple?

I LOVE the shirt with the navy sweater over it! perfect color combo and the ruffles look so dramatic!!

i also love the second outfit!! i love it as is, but a cardigan would be a nice touch as well. i could see green, light grey, hot pink, or blue looking great with this outfit. the skirt looks fab, by the way! perfect fit, in my opinion. does it feel comfortable?

i love the rouched skirt as well! i could see a belt being the perfect touch to this outfit! maybe a thick red belt?

Wow, that orange is so vibrant and beautiful. I like the color combinations in the first outfit but I think I would like it with a cardigan better. This way you could see more of the ruffles in the shirt. The denim skirt looks great - not tight at all! I agree with the others on the second outfit - it needs some additional color. You could stick with neutrals and add a grey sweater. Or the red belt sounds like a great idea. I do think the high waist of the skirt and the horizontal striped shirt tucked in looks a little weird - the red belt might help break it up a bit.

Thanks so much for the feedback, ladies. It's very helpful. I probably need to pay more attention to accessories, and belts especially, because I need to create more of a define waist whenever possible. I've been having a weird reaction to almost all jewelry of late, so I've been avoiding it -- necklaces especially. And I think I need to go back and study some of YLF's stellar cardigan wearers so I can get more comfortable with making them work for me. I think the denim skirt will be fine, given the amount of stretch it has, and I can definitely do a lot with it!

Both skirts are beautiful and great investments pieces. They both fit you wonderfully. I would take them both in an instant that's for sure.
