Monday - animal print cardi: is this too much brown? What would you do to make it less brown?

Tues & Wed - busy days at work; did not get out of gear

Thurs - you've seen this outfit or a version before, I think. Bringing out the turquoise in honor of spring.

Also I took a second pic with my black "travel" trench. This is BR. It is nylon, unlined, and it packs nicely because it rolls up really small. You can't see it in this pic, but the buttons are rimmed in silver for a bit of contrast. I've had this trench for many years and it's gone on lots of trips with me. It's not warm at all, but it's good to have for emergency rain showers.

Friday - having fun with my vest again. Before and after haircut shots.

Saturday - this is my favorite outfit of the week! The blouse was an orphan destined to the giveaway pile, until I was inspired by Antje the other day, when she posted that pic of her in the NL yellow jacket with the gorgeous black blouse underneath.

The blouse (Ann Taylor) is navy with tiny white polka dots. It's silk and fits me well and has nice cuffs. It's been an orphan because it's felt to me like something I should wear to the office with a skirt or slacks and not something I could work into smart casual part of my life. Until I got inspired by Antje! I am thinking I also look like I'm channeling Kyle too, what do you think?

Anyway, I wore this outfit with the white pleather jacket over and my favorite green scarf. I got several compliments from strangers while I was wearing it, so that is a good sign. Now I'm wondering what other cardis I have that will also look nice with this top, and it is back in my closet again.

Sunday - very casual day, wearing my cons, graphic tee, Kate Spade backpack, and the new white watch-bangle. I always feel short and dumpy in cons, but oh well. Some days, that's what is most practical to wear.

Also there is a close-up of the new hoops. They are keepers. I love them. I think they are just the right size for me.

Hey if you look closely at that pic, I just noticed you can see a blue vein above my eyebrow! Hmm, do you think this scarf would look better on someone without blue undertones? I'm not sure about this scarf. It's very orange and maybe too bright and too much scarf for me?

I'm having a hard time finding spring scarves that I like. It seems everything is in bright colors made for winters or springs. I'm also not sure what colors would be most versatile to work into my wardrobe.

Shiny, another great week! I love the animal print cardi. I think a red bag would be a nice pop of color with that outfit. Glad to see you were able to get some use out of a closet orphan. I think the Ann Taylor blouse works great with jeans. Also, your haircut looks great!

Shiny, you are so cute! The hair looks great and you have so many fun outfits this week. I especially love your vests and your graphic tee, and you make that pleather jacket look amazing. I'll have to try it with cardigans under it the way you have it here - it would definitely keep me warmer!

I don't think that Monday's outfit is too brown with the jacket since the cardigan is an animal print. If it was a solid brown cardigan it might look too brown, but I personally like it the way you've styled it here.

Oh shiny, this might be one of my favorite weeks of yours! I LOVE your haircut. And amongst all the great outfits, some of my other faves are:

the layering with the mustard yellow cropped cardi (and I'm so happy to have inspired you :-)). It's not just the blouse but also the color of the cardi that is so fab I could swoon

the cream jacket is the BEST, and it looks soooo good over the animal print cardi

the vest over tee is so cute; it's a casual look but on you it looks very smart and hip

the red scarf is gorgous

the black trench fits great

I think I like everything You know, I think your style has really evolved. You were already very stylish when you first posted on YLF, always super polished and put together and had a distinct "shiny signature style". But I think you've also tried new combinations and looks thanks to YLF and have taken your style to a new level. You look hip and trendy in a very polished and smart way. Lovely!

I think my favorite is the pleather jacket and the hoop earings, I do not think the animal print is too brown, especially with your jacket.
What season are you Shiny? Is it summer? if so the pastel thing is always what is recommended.
I can see you in really lovely pale blues with white or off white.

Shiny, you always have a fabulous week! I think I get a new idea every time I look through your pic's. Have you thought about doing a pop of color under the leopard cardi? I've done a burnt organge cami (cream layered under that) before that was fun. I think that cowl Angie has on the blog in a raspberry or turquoise might be fun underneath too. Just play with some colors in your closet - that's very versatile & it will show off the leopard more also with the contrast. It looks great with brown though too!

It’s as if Antje took the words out of my mouth. I also think your style has evolved and you have never looked better. You’ve added an edge to your look and I love it! It started happening when you came back from Paris. Told you Paris would change you forever :0)

The black button down with the olive cardi is my favourite outfit. KILLER. But I love the others too. The casual outfit with the cons is fabulous and the pleather jacket is superb. You are a very stylish little creature.

I've never ever seen you in an un-stylish outfit, but if I have to pick a favourite, then it would be Saturday. The cropped olive cardi over the black shirt looks divine!

Great haircut! I love all the outfits. Personally, I do think the brown under the animal print is a bit too much, but of course, you pull it off.

I really wish I could learn what you know. You just seem to know exactly what fits you and how to put it all together. I've never seen you look bad!

That haircut is AWESOME.

The unorphaned shirt and the mustard is a terrific look, but my personal favorite is Friday, the blue t-shirt under the black blazer. Something about the simplicity of it combined with the chunkier necklace really works.

The spring scarf is a great color on you! Keep, keep!

The cropped cardi on Saturday isn't mustard yellow; it's a greenish color and it's a cardi I wore constantly last summer and spring. Sooo cool to me that none of you remember it. Hee hee. That means I'm repurposing just right!!!

Antje & Angie, I do think my style has evolved - thanks to YLF. I look back just one year ago at my outfit pics, and I can see a difference too.

Greenglove, I have always thought I was a summer but who knows! I tend not to wear pastels that much, even if they look good, because I worry they make me look too young, and being 5'0" that is something I've long steered clear of, but at my age maybe I don't have to worry so much about it anymore? Hmm. I do think I look better in blue-based colors but I've long loved browns yet lately I've been wondering if maybe greys are a better neutral for me? I have so many browns in my closet though, it would reduce my closet substantially if I tossed all them out. So I am experimenting with adding white to give it a boost.

April - you're so sweet, and you can tower over me anytime.

Jewelrygirl - I don't wear this animal print cardi often, but I'm loathe to give it away just yet. I have in the past paired it with a ruffly lavendar silk blouse and I liked that combo too. I think it is worth keeping the trouble is it is such a statement piece on it's own I feel like whatever I put under it should be really simple; hence the simple Gap brown tee in this combo. Does that make sense?

Angie - the blouse is actually navy, not black, with tiny white polka dots. I should've done a close-up. I would love other ideas for what to do with this blouse. I think it has potential. And can you tell me why I feel so short whenever I wear the cons?

Tarzy - I also thought it was too much brown - if I took the white jacket off. The white jacket made it, I think. Luckily, the weather was such that I left the jacket on both indoors and out. But, I agree. If I had red booties or a red purse, that would've been better.

Kristen- I felt very comfy and put together in the Friday outfit; the shirt is actually purple, which is one of my favorite colors.

It's ironic many of you mentioned mustard yellow, because this weekend I ordered a mustard yellow purse. Hopefully it will work out, because I suspect it's the touch of color I need !!!

I think the animal print cardi with the brown underneath was fine with the white jacket over it. Not too brown. You could substitute a lighter brown/tan cami underneath the cardi to break up the brown as well.

You’ll see through the outfits that I post, that I wear shirts often. This might give you ideas on how to wear your navy spot shirt. I’d start off by matching it with a pencil skirt and popping it under a sheath dress.

Plus I think you definitely win the all time prize for pictures with the most personality. I love the picture of you cracking up in your leopard top. It is hard not to smile with you when I click on a picture and see you laughing.

However I got it for only $19.99 - plus 20% discount - at Filene's basement here in Boston area. There were tons of different styles to choose from, all white bangles but with various types of watch faces, different width bangles, and different silver accents. If you google "Anne Klein bangle watch" you should be able to find different ones. I liked this particular one the best because it wasn't too wide, and something about the pattern appealed to me.
