Let the fun begin!

So this week was about trying to find a way to wear ignored items in my wardrobe and mix the old with the new. I have done well-----I wore complete outfits with the right sandals, accessories and a bag when needed. Here are 3 outfits I wore this week.

Outfit#1: I bought these Tommy Hilfiger shorts for my trip to Maldives. I just loved the happy colour! However, once I got home, I just couldn't find the right top for it. The bold yellow is way out of my comfort zone, to be honest. I did wear it on my vacation with a turquoise blue top and pretty colourful beads necklace (Image 3) but the whole outfit was way too loud for my personality. I needed a more relaxed top for these shorts. And I bought this striped tee with a lovely crotchet lace panel running down the back when I went shopping with my mom last week. I think this outfit works now. I felt comfortable and relaxed....the simple silver necklace and light blue sandals felt 'natural' in this outfit. Do you think this is a success? Or a miss?

Outfit#2: I keep clothes in 2 sizes in my wardrobe. I have quite a few days in the month when I feel 'bloated' and want to be comfortable. Yet, every time this happens, I resort to yoga pants or shorts worn with an oversized tee. Well, not this day I wore this simple printed knit dress from Dorothy Perkins I bought for Maldives in March. The print is happy and the fit forgiving....it's basically like wearing a long tshirt. I didn't want to wear a long necklace that would get 'lost' in the print, so I chose a simple short chain and pendant that's Atleast 6 years old. On my feet, I wore these old Dr Scholls sandals that are now past their prime and have been over-worn in the last 3 years, but I can't find a replacement since all the new Dr Scholls designs don't appeal to my aesthetic sense. I was relaxed and comfortable all day

Outfit#3: This denim skirt has been languishing in my cupboard for Atleast 3 summers now. I was convinced it's too short and usually wear it with tights, a sweater and boots in colder weather. I think the problem was that I didn't have the right top. In the past years, I've usually worn lose oversized tops to hide my bust...but that hid my waist too. This is another striped tee I bought shopping with my mum and I love the fitted sleeves. I was surprised to see how well it worked with this skirt! I wore 3 years old blue and black sandals and used a cross-body bag and a scarf when I went grocery shopping in this outfit. Sadly, I clicked the photos before I added the scarf. I loved this outfit! It was appropriately casual yet pulled together. This is the kind of outfit creativity I hope to achieve during my shopping fast. However, is this skirt too short? Does it look obscene without tights?

If you got this far....thanks for reading. All inputs/comments are more than welcome.

ETA: I realize that my posts get rather long. Seems like every post I do becomes a novel! I promise to work on them in the future to keep the content crisp yet provide all the info in my head.
