Recent outfits - YouLookFab Forum

I've been lazy about posting outfit photos - and even lazier about taking photos! But here are a few that have been sitting on my camera for weeks. Not much is new here. I'm mostly working my wardrobe and trying to get as many outfit combos out of clothes already in my closet. In particular, how to style short-sleeve blouses I bought this summer for the fall and winter.

1. Wore this out to a play:

H&M ponte knit jacket, AT "starry night" blouse, long pearls, UO skinnies, SW booties, ATL clutch. Nothing new here!

2. Same outfit as above, but with coat and scarf:

I also recently bought fun green leather gloves to go with this coat! No pics though... it's a different shade than this clutch, not quite so bright. This is my first foray into gloves other than black or brown.

3. Playing with textures outfit:

AT blouse, AT cardigan, INC ponte knit pants, suede Franco Sarte boots, necklace from a local boutique, botkier bag. I think that's five different textures in one outfit? (Also, nothing new here in this outfit either...except the goofy pose.)

4. Change-up from skinny pants, which I've been living in lately:

AT jacket, AT blouse (bought in separate seasons but so thrilled the two coordinate perfectly!), vintage brooch, clutch - I forget?, COH Hutton jeans, Nine West giraffe pumps.

5. Very similar outfit to #4, except with gray Inc ponte knits, SW booties, and black Furla bag. I think I like #4 better. What are your thoughts? Also, any other suggestions on how to wear this blouse? I love it, but if I put a black jacket or cardi over it, it seems so dark and needs something. Yet, the neckline detailing is such, it doesn't work that great with a necklace. Suggestions, please!

6. I wore something sorta similar to this one before:

Ponte knit AT jacket, ATL cotton top (it has embellishment at the neckline - can't see in this pic), scarf from Austria, UO jeans, Star Ling boots. With long gold necklace that is new... unfortunately, I forgot to take off the scarf so you could see it.

7. Yes, a DRESS for a change!

BR sweater dress (you'll remember from last year), new gold necklace (what do you think?) from Macy's, Star Ling boots. Do these boots work with this dress? I was trying to go for a more casual, day look here. I still feel dressed up in this, but it was quite comfy.

8. Saving the best for last.... here's what I wore for Thanksgiving!

AT blouse, AT Outlet cardigan (my new favorite), long pearls, UO jeans, black suede franco sarto boots.

I've worn #8 a few times, sometimes with ponte knit pants and SW booties instead of jeans. I have converted to new look cardigans - I found two amazing ones at AT Outlet and have been wearing both to death lately.

San, I think the secret was finding just the right long cardigan. So many of them overwhelm my petite figure, especially if worn unbelted. I was thrilled to find - not one but two- that fit just right at AT Outlet, and actually look best without a belt.

This weekend I bought a long sweater vest from BR... so that will soon be in the mix too...

I'm still not sold on the cascading cardi look... I will say I'm "warming up to it." I have persisted in trying them on, but something doesn't work right for me. I feel top heavy in them? The cascades seem to add too much to my chest? That's all I can figure.

Shiny- maybe it's because of your inverted triangle tendencies? Something that doesn't have volume at the top or shoulder may work better for you.

These are great outfits- and I love the giraffe print shoes!

I love outfit #7. Love the necklace, and thank you for showing me how cute short boots are with dresses. I can't seem to get beyond tall boots when I show some leg, however time and time again, I see how good it works. You are adorable!

Shiny- you look like a little doll! Love all your outfits but especially your new long cardi with the AT blouse. Is that the Ralph Lauren circle necklace in pic #7? It looks just like one that I bought at the NAS, but then exchanged for gray pearls. It looks wonderful on you! I'm kicking myself now for returning it!

You are the queen of skinny jean + pattern top + jacket look! I actually bought two patterned tops recently because of how great you look in them. I posted an outfit in my recent looks thread.

Debora - I'm not sure if it's RL, it is quite probable. I wanted to incorporate just a bit of gold jewelry into my wardrobe this season, so I picked out this shorter necklace and a longer one. I think I still prefer silver, but gold is nice for a change, and I was inspired by Angie to pair gold with these Star Ling boots, to pull the outfit together.

I know this is yet another black dress, but I don't own an LBD that has sleeves! Plus, the fabric is absolutely sumptuous, and the fit is very flattering.

I'm hoping to get DH to take some photos soon, for YLF approval! I am still worried it may be too short, but I want to try it with the Star Lings, or over the black ponte knit pants? It's a very very different look for me...

Thanks San - I switched hair dressers Thanksgiving week! I've been too busy to post about that saga. It's the same basic cut idea, but I am liking this new hairdresser - she's faster, more efficient, and really chatty (which I miss). She wants me to go more red next time.. I may try it...

I tried on the two new BR dresses today, at home. The black one is definitely a keeper, and I'm hoping to wear it tomorrow. The other one... I still don't know. It looks different to me in my home mirror... BR mirrors and lighting aren't the best! Ugh.... I may end up returning afterall, which would be a pity because in theory I do like the idea of this dress...

Awesome looks Shiny! I simply can't pick a fave! The dress with the Star Ling boots perhaps? Love your boots in the final outfit though - they fit you perfectly.
