Recent Inexpensive Accessory Purchases

My plan for the next couple of months is to focus only on accessory and dress purchases. For accessories, I am have been on the lookout for interesting necklaces & bracelets (I have lots of cool earrings), as well as scarves. Since I am on a tight budget, I've been open to looking around more, especially to shops that I normally do not frequent to find some fun pieces in my price range. My mom would probably die on the spot if she saw me wearing any of these jewelry items - being Indian, I have always received jewelry for holidays & birthdays etc, and have a safe full of gorgeous, beautifully crafted 22 K gold jewelry but it's not really "fashion" jewelry if you know what I mean. I just have to remember not to wear it around her:)

Anyway, here are a few of my newest finds:

1. This is a pretty blue bead chain that I picked up at H&M for only $3.90! It is actually very long so I can wear it full length or even double up to make a shorter version. I like the color and the delicate chain and I think it would be great for the summer with simple dresses or for jazzing up a white t-shirt (not that I would ever wear one ;).

2. Multi-strand silver & black bead necklace from H&M ($6.90). I wear alot of black and I thought this would be a fun addition (especially for winter with black sweaters):

3. I went to payless shoe store for the first time since I was about 19 today. I was interested in finding these giraffe print flats:

However, I didn't really like the way they looked on me and though I don't really have any foot issues per se, the sole is paper thin. I did find these yellow canvas peep toe wedge flats that I loved:

I am picturing wearing these with my white jeans or with my white or dark denim pencil skirts. Since these are the payless version, I don't expect them to last and I will be on the lookout for a better quality leather version.

4 &5. I love the J crew pearl cluster necklace:

I saw someone else on the net who added some clear beads to hers to get more of the j crew look and I might do that if I am feeling particularly crafty. I wish I had taken a full length shot of my outfit today - I wore my cardigan & graphic tee look - citron graphic tee (the J. Crew Henna tee) and a purple cardigan over my sea salt bootcut J crew cords.

Emily, yes, it is the same necklace. It took me about half an hour (PITA) with a safety pin and a pair of scissors to cut away the lace which gave it sort of a cheap look. Luckily, underneath the lace was the same fake pearl surface and not just a plain bead. Of course, there's a part of me that's afraid that something this cheap probably has lead paint or something else that's going to make my skin melt off!!

There are actually quite a few knockoffs of this necklace out there. Target has a version that is $10.99 in the store:

I tried this on and didn't really like it that much. F21 has several pearl cluster necklaces. There was a y shaped one for which you could probably easily just cut off the y hanging part:

There is also another cluster necklace - it was very pretty but just didn't suit my skin coloring although I bet it would look great on someone with pale skin:

I love it all, but especially the peep toes and pearls. There was another thread I intended to comment on where you were wearing yellow (I can't find it now), but I wanted to say yellow looks so lovely on you.
I know what you mean about the gold! My family thinks I am a bit off since I have not worn gold since my teen years - it took YEARS for my mom to get used to it and even work with the idea. The rest of my family - they just number it among my other eccentricities - like super short hair.

I really like the pearl necklace, it looks very pretty. The yellow wedges are cute too. I need to go to Forever 21, I've never shopped there before, but it looks like I've been missing out on some cute trendy accessories.

The new accessories are great! I have been finding alot of great shoes at Payless this year, I think the store near me is stocking the more trendy items lately because with the economy more people or falling back on Payless while they cant afford the better quality shoes at dept. stores. I am not complaining!

I also check Target often for jewerly. It's very hot it or miss, but sometimes I find some great pieces for $10-15 for a necklace.

Cant wait to see more of your outfits!

Great finds! It's so nice to be able to spice up the wardrobe with a couple of inexpensive accessories.

Thanks for sharing! I like all your purchases. I love wearing long necklaces as an accessory. The giraffe print flats are cute, but I really like the yellow ones too. I think they'll be great for spring and summer.

after5, this was literally the second time I have ever stepped foot in F21. I am always afraid that some pre-teen is going to laugh her butt off to see me in there! The first time was last fall and it was just so overwhelming with so much stuff everywhere. The store looked like it had been pillaged by looters. I quickly scurried out. This time I was focused on the accessory section so it was a bit easier. But I admit to being a little embarrassed to go in - I actually looked around to make sure no one that I knew was near the store!! The funny thing is that while I was looking at the jewelry, someone asked me if I worked there! And I am thinking - oh yeah, retailers now let you bring your BABY in his stroller to work!!!

Joy, I'm not sure - maybe an insole would do the trick. The bottom of the shoe was like a piece of cardboard and I know that some ballet flats are like this - I generally buy the ones with a more substantial sole because I feel like I need more support.

I love the JCrew necklace and yellow shoes. I recently was looking for yellow shoes of this color. I wish I stopped by Payless. I ended up getting a different shade of yellow (lime-ish) instead which also works with some of my closet items.
