Interesting perspectives. What I see is a little goth, a little Alice Cooper, and a little punk.
The reason I'm asking is that I've been looking for black motorcycle boots with buckles and zips. I was out shopping yesterday with a friend, and she held those up and said, these hit your criteria. I thought they were way too over-the-top, but tried them on for a lark. They look surprisingly good on. I wasn't planning on something quite that stylized, but I sort of love them. Brought them home for hubby's opinion. He thinks they are, and I quote, "#$%*ing awesome".
Not sure if I have the stones to wear them. I'm starting to think that weird shoes are like drugs. You start out with mild marijuana-level weird, and feel very conscious of your feet, but soon the mildly weird becomes completely normal, and you need to move on to hard-core heroin-level weird. (I guess it's a good thing I have an escalating weird shoe habit, rather than a drug one, haha).
I have a Christmas gift certificate, by the way. Not sure if I should wait for the spring shoes, but traditionally I'm not as crazy about the spring Fluevog offerings. They tend to be daintier, with pastel colours.
Anna, would you wear them? Diana, Sylvie: would you? Good to know you also see awesome instead of ugly.
Rachy: I don't see Edwardian either. Sometimes I wonder if my style filter is off. Good to know you see it the same way.
Una, I also LOVE pointy Truth boots, but they are not in The Plan. I tried them on in the summer, and the electric blue ones are tres awesome -- much more than the black. But I sadly have no wardrobe hole for fantastic electric blue booties. I do need a pair of black motorcycle boots.
