Queen Mum

These are dresses that I wear casually out and can dress up for nicer occasions when needed.

#1 is my current collection (I don't have my dressiest of dresses included here) Anything you would recommend I add to the Goodwill bag?

#2-8 White BR dress (if the shoulder looks wonky it's because I have it pinned up a tad) and three Boden dresses. Any of these rate a 10?

# 9 added a close up collage of the 3 boden dresses hoping to give better color assessment.

#2, #3, #4 in the first picture and then the white one I don't like the others so much because, for some reason, I find them overwhelming on you.

#1-I like 2 through 4 the best for versatility and I also really like you in red so I like #5. #1 isn't bad, but in general I find I get tired of prints much faster than solids. It also looks like the hardest one to layer for cooler days. #2-Great white dress, looks perfect on it's own and basic enough to really jazz up or down with accessories, I vote keep. #5-#7-In general I am favoring smaller prints on you versus larger one's, so I like #5 best print wise. However, I really like red on you, so I like #7 best color wise, and the white flowers, there are so many it's less like a scattered print and more basic design scheme, which is one reason why I liked the dots dress. I vote keep #5 and #7 if you need dresses. Although if #5 came in #7's color, *swoon* that would be just lovely on you.

In the first montage, I continue to like the large pinkish-red floral print dress. I cannot vote on the outfits with tapered hems (dress in one photo, sweater in the other) because I am not fond of this look.

I like the Boden polka dot dress quite a bit, LOVE the white dress. Of the two Boden floral dresses, I prefer the red but my computer was not helping the other dress, i.e. I couldn't really tell what color it is, so maybe it is pretty, too.

Will check your other post regarding dresses and perhaps I will have some new insights!

thanks for the input so far. FYI, #6 is purple. I'm gonna try to add a close up pic in other lighting of the three boden dresses. I think they are hard to assess in the pictures.

I like all in pic #1, great casual dresses. I love the BR white one, and I really like the brown polka dots! So Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman : ) I'm not really crazy about the print in #6 or #7, but the shape is nice on you

I love the dresses in the first photo. Of the potential additions, I only really like the white one. Is there something wonky going on with the fit in the bodice and back, though? If it fits well, I'd say keep that one.

The others are not tens for me. I agree with those who feel that the floral print is overwhelming. I love the dotted dress, but I don't love that color on you. You are so vibrant, and that shade does not effectively communicate that.

I (surprisingly) would agree somewhat with Airin's choices for the best dresses. The red and navy florals overwhelm a bit and are not as slimming as the other choices. The brown polka dot is nice but I find the other brown polka dot in the other post a more flattering shape (even though you labeled it as a casual dress). Maybe some tailoring would help with these dresses.
The white dress is gorgeous on you. Very keep!!!

Lurve the white dress. That one is a 10 for sure. I like your current dresses too although I prefer the ones without the banded bottoms. That's not to say I don't like them, I think the other ones look sleeker for smarter casual. I like the purple floral dress the best of the others--but I'm not wild about the print.

I think all the dresses in your current collection still look very good on you. Of the other ones, I only like the white one, which is absolutely perfect and stunning on you. What a perfect find! The Boden dresses are underwhelming IMO. Like Rosee said, the brown polka-dot dress from Target fits you much better (it's great on you) than this one.

The white dress is KILLER. My favourite dress on you ever! it scores 20 out of 10.

The others are 7's. I'm going to be a complete mare and say return the rest and opt for something stronger and different in styling. Your old dresses are better, actually.

Thanks everyone for the input. It is invaluable! (well, actually your input is worth about $90 per dress that you nixed)

I'm going to keep the white dress and say so long to the Boden dresses. I so wanted them to work, but I see what you all are seeing. Not quite up to snuff. I'm thinking on me, a fit and flare needs to have a very soft flowy skirt.

I just got back from the mall from making a load of returns. The red floral dress from New York and Company just didn't feel *quite* right. I also returned the blue print Target dress... it just wasn't singing to me. I think if it weren't quite so wide, and a little longer it would have been better. I forgot to take the reciept but am planning to return the Loft floral dress as well. I tried it on again and decided that while waist surrendering is great, whole torso surrendering isn't quite as flattering. It just wasn't hanging as nicely as I would like.

So, this leaves me still able to purchase 1 or 2 more summer dress IF I happen to stumble upon just the right ones.

Angie... absolutely be a mare whenever you want. We can't have the queen mum running around in less than the best now, can we? It's actually quite freeing to be able to return and move on.

LOVE the white dress and not thrilled with the rest of the new ones. I find Boden to be more appealing in the catalog than at my house, FWIW. Something is always a little off (probably me, but the photos seem deceptive in the catalog somehow!)...

Kim - it's a bit thinner knit than the Target dresses, and it drapes very nicely. I wore it with my wedge slides to a reception and felt dressed up, and you could dress it down as well, I'd think, with flatter shoes. I really like it - mostly I like it because it is SO flattering around the bust/waist.
