Today's outfit has the potential to be an
interesting exercise in evaluating statement and regular pieces a la Una. I
suspect that pretty much everything I'm wearing could be seen as a statement
piece in a different context. I went with my instincts when creating this
outfit, and I didn't feel over the top, but when I start breaking it down I
realise that I was likely treading a fine line and may even have crossed it. The
blouse is one of my new fall purchases, and I suspect it could be
statement-esque because of its colours and the sheer fabrication. The pants are
my statement jeans, full stop. They're coated denim that feel like suede, and
they have a tonal animal print that I don't know if you can see. The booties,
surprise surprise, are my Robyns that I suspect function like a regular in this
outfit. The necklace is meant to be a regular piece too that just provides a
finishing touch. Where I really muddy the water is when I go outside and
Don my beloved tweed cape, which was one of my best NAS purchases of all time.
Is it too much when worn over the pants, or is it manage to walk the line
between statement and obnoxious proclamation? Thanks for all feedback, as
always.
