Happy New Year Fabbers! I'm back with some outfits to share and musings on starting out my fashion year. LIke many others, I got the gift that kept on giving for the last couple of weeks of the year (aka super virus). We went to visit family over Christmas and they were treated to several days of almost complete quiet from me, followed by several days of extreme whiskey and cigarettes voice, which was pretty sexy (NOT)! Anyway, no fashion was happening during that period, so when I got back home and started back to work last week, I was motivated to actually take some photos of outfits, even as the pieces are mostly all familiar to you at this point. Like many others, I'm reining in the hunter/gatherer instinct to reasses and also to reduce spend in the new year...which is fine, I could probably go for several years on 2014's purchases alone. I joined the forum in Spring of last year, did a closet purge with Angie and went all in throughout S/S and F/W in terms of shopping, all based on my learnings from you guys. It feels like a degree program, seriously! Thank you all for your thoughtful input and willingness to share...it's a great thing to share, this fashion fun!

Anywho, how 'bout some outfits?
#1 and #2 American Eagle boyfriend plaid shirt/tunic with a black Max Studio shirt hem tunic, over Spanx faux cracked leather leggings and black Blondo Eleanor riding boots. So comfy, incorporating blurple, lavender and white with black makes me happy. On top I wore my cobalt boucle hooded cocoon coat and blue, white and grey scarf for warmth, with a new grey faux leather snakeskin clutch. Um hello Angie and Aida, my clutch influences. I carried one every day this week and I'm hooked!
#3 Winter white cotton jumper with deeply discounted AG Nikki's from Piperlime, taupe suede booties and my brown and winter white hooded faux fur capelet which was somewhat of an orphan over the last couple of years, but has since found a new lease in life. It has been pretty warm here, so this was all I needed and as it cooled on my walk home from the bus in the evening, the hood was there to embrace me. Cadmium red, pebbled leather clutch is from Cuyana.

#4 Cream and leopard sweatshirt over winter white Kut Diana cords, with matching cognac belt and cuban heeled tall boots. Added a plaid scarf in matching colorway and my camel man coat. Whenever I wear white bottom with brown boots (esp. cognac), I feel like I'm off to play a few chukkers of polo Just to throw a wrench into the works, I carried my holographic leather foldover clutch, cuz you KNOW I'm not headed to the polo fields with that!

#5 Channeling blogger une femme from her outfit post a couple of weeks ago, I paired a black layering long sleeve from Old Navy tee under a sheer, floaty EF silk tank with a grey and black blurred pattern. For bottoms, I wore my steeply discounted, post-Christmas find (again Piperlime) pair of Paige Verdugo in charcoal galaxy metallic, finishing with my Shelly's London black suede, pointed-toe rocker booties. For a topper, I wore the Ann Taylor tuxedo jacket with faux leather lapels that ya'll agreed I should keep and my EF infinity scarf which matched my grey snake clutch. Did I mention that I love carrying clutches? I wore this outfit shopping to pick up a couple of Christmas prezzies to me (see #6).

#6 Went into 8telier to try the skirted leggings I had posted about back when the topic started here. Their version had an asymmetrical skirt, which is kinda my thing of late. Anyway, they fit like a dream and DH loved them, so that was that...but wait, this jacket is 40% off, you should try it! I have tried their faux leather jackets before and love their lightweight, breathable fabric AND the wire that they incorporate into parts of the piece so that you can style it various ways (think Gumby). This one has wires in the lapels and hem, which allows me to flatten it back against my chest so as to reduce the volume up top, not a bad thing for me. And so it goes... Then, in walking through The Rack I found a great sale pair of black Chelseas by Miz Mooz just like my brown Dibas that I bought in Vancouver, but with ruching at the instep/ankle. Super comfy, rubber sole, buttery leather and great on wide feet. Black is sorted for a LIFETIME! Done! Remind me I said this...I have a short memory.
