Totally inspired by Ingunn's awesome attempt at it with her own closet http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....adnes-post I tried reworking this again in my head and decided to not only go casual, but warm weather as well, since, well, that's what I've got! No trenches, add sandals and shorts, you get the idea.

I went with a white light cotton jacket in place of the trench, and a lightweight cardi instead of the denim shirt. Olive green shorts instead of burgundy pants. My only suit is a pantsuit but I realized I could approximate a skirt suit with my cargo jacket and skirt. Yes, it's a bit 'going on a safari' but I think it could work.
Stay tuned for trying the actual outfits. That's work, and I'm still enjoying my coffee lol.
(I love how kitty wasn't moving for me to play my closet games lol)

EDIT: a little bonus that hadn't occurred to me - both jackets have convertible sleeves so I could change up the looks even more.

can't wait to see the combos. You are so creative. I'm tempted to play along too. I need to pack for a 5 day trip anyway, this would be the perfect travel capsule.

Well, I started, got about half way through and have stopped. I found trying to substitute some of my pieces for theirs and then trying the exact combos with my subs didn't work out as well. Like my purple cardi under my safari jacket, over the olive shorts. Just weird. I instead would do my cardi over the jeans (which isn't represented in their correlating pieces). So I may just post the few I got through for kicks.
That said, there are a dozen other combos I would do with mine that they did not with theirs, so it's not a lost effort

Yay! So excited you are doing this and can't wait to see these outfits on. I ran into the same difficulty, but still ended up with a few outfits, I should post my results. It does help you see where to focus your energies in creating a cohesive wardrobe. I realize, now, I have too many colors and too many clothes, I would really like to narrow it down. I'm just sick of having too much stuff and feeling overwhelmed and unorganized.

One by one, duplicating their pieces with mine. My main sustitutions were olive shorts for the burgundy pants and the white jacket for the trench. Numbers 2 and 4 are the only ones I did not pair up as exact replications with my substitute pieces. They just didn't layer right. So I winged it with my own pairing with what I had. Works for me! Added the last one just because it made sense to me to pair the pieces
If I were to do this for a real trip or whatnot, I would swap out the striped tee. It did not layer well under my lighter jackets. Anyway, it was fun to try and put it into action at any rate!

Wow, this is brilliant, Mo! I particularly like 1, 5, 7 and 12, and 13 is a very nice bonus. That dress is so pretty. You demonstrate that this is a quite versatile capsule formula. Clever of the BR headquarters Good idea to adapt the items to your climate and lifestyle - we must all do that to be able to succeed. Well done!

Thanks Ingunn, for inspiring me with your inspiration lol! I felt a few of these fell flat - the ones with the purple tank and no topper specifically. Guess their purple top's having a built in belt makes that little polished difference.
I could, and might, try this again with the more dressy pieces like my grey (pant)suit, and a black button down. I even have the burgundy pants. Just no boots, or trench.

I need to do this and to catalog my clothes. Just thinking about it exhausts me. You've done a great job here. Have we seen all of these items on you? The leopard top and lavender tank are not ringing a bell for me.

And can I ask how often you wear and convert the convertible items? I would love that VS jacket but I'm sure it's not anywhere now... am curious how versatile they really are.

Una, the leopard tank is a few years old, I just wear it very occasionally, animal print is a big statement for me. And the lavender is a Vera Wang top I got at the end of this summer. Love it! Hope it goes under jackets well for my Tahoe style

I like that you adapted this idea to a more casual style! It's even harder for those of us who don't need a professional wardrobe (scrubs, for me).

These pieces work very well together. I especially love your green dress in #3 and the ones with your leopard tank.

Four and eight are my favorites- totally missed the outfit posts until now, just saw the bed ones! Love that navy safari jacket.

I like the stripe on stripe effect, and think the scarf and striped shirt would look good paired with the navy mini---- I totally understand the heat situation but always like a little coverage and a completer piece with a mini skirt unless it is for going out, so the long sleeved t and scarf would be cute. I also would love to see the white jacket with the animal top or long sleeved striped top and the navy mini.

Wow - this is a lot of work. Well done! I've commented before that I really struggle with casual style so looking at great casual outfits like yours really helps me. Although mine definitely have to be warmer - lol! Knowing how difficult I find dressing in the summer, I can't imagine "warm weather dressing" day after day.

#12 really stands out to me. The colour mix and proportions are just perfect.

I missed this thread yesterday but went looking for it and am glad I did. I love how you interpreted the framework of the BR capsule to fit your existing wardrobe and your lifestyle. 1, 3, 4, 5, 10, 12, and 13. I'm not totally sold on the striped scarf--it looks a little limp. Maybe trying tying it a different way? Do you have any other scarves? I love your red belt--could you try it over the utility jacket in the "suit" in pic 7? I agree the purple top may need something added to it to provide structure or a bit more pop. It's maybe kind of on the edge of being lingerie-ish or something when worn alone without a topper. I suspect it might work alone with skinny jeans, though. Maybe try adding the red belt to the black skirt in outfit 11 and see if that does it?

So creative and very inspiring. This is style for Real Life and I really appreciate your effort in laying it all out for us. The BR capsule was also for a colder climate so your own spin is individual and adapted and that's interesting to see, too. I realize that casual looks sometimes "don't get no respect" the way the edgier or dressier stuff tends to, and I see even more that you are quite adept at a playful and pretty yet rugged (as in not delicate, can be out in the world) style. Great looks you put together there! I like 3 and 7 particularly.

Love this interpretation of the BR capsule,Mo! The striped shirt may not play well with your jackets but I think it adds so much pizazz to the capsule!
