Brie, Staysfit, Peri, Bonnie --
I appreciate the kind words! Brie, I think I remember you posting your RTR experience...was the dress for a winter gala? If not you, then that YLFer looked great and I'm sure you did too!
Re RTR and cost per wear: first, they seem to eternally have a 20% off first rental or 1st month of Unlimited. So that helps. The code's on the site though I'm happy to PM anyone my referral one.
They've split their services into a) short-term rentals (4 or 8 days) and b) "Unlimited," a monthly subscription where you can have up to 3 items at a time as long as you want and are paying -- though note, there doesn't seem to be access to the full RTR selection base, which I get from a biz standpoint but was a bummer as I had my eye on a few that aren't eligible/available. Some of the Unlimited items are available at ~ 50% off retail when they arrive. Good/bad: This maxi wasn't one of them.
Staysfit, yes, I think RTR could work really well for your summer event/fun needs. I know you've looked at maxis and in fact I think this particular maxi would be lovely on you if you like the print -- mostly all cool colors: https://www.renttherunway.com/.....eline_maxi Also take a look at this one, which wasn't available in the size I thought I needed so I took a chance on the smaller (too small!) one to do a "color check" (it's amazing, will hope my size comes in for Unlimited, if not I can order it via "single" rental): https://www.renttherunway.com/.....am_on_gown
Now -- Peri, I do hear you. I consider what I'm doing part gambling, part hobby, part smart shopping research -- and 100% indulgence.
Having spent most of my budget on practical work/nice casual wear and having an ever-shifting shape, I wanted to be able to play, explore, road-test etc for a few months with an eye on figuring out items/designers that might work for a big event that takes place during a transitional season. With all your frustration finding dresses I think this service could work for you.
Bonnie -- I didn't post one of the "misses" as it would need at least a PG-13 rating but it was fun to try.
Cons: easy to find cons on Google/the customer reviews, and I hate their dry cleaning fluid's smell (I hate all DCF smell).
Will end this here....
