Outfits June 15-21 - Kristen
I tried some new things this week: neutrals, semi-business casual, a summer casual dress for the heat, a gear outfit, and even found a "new" dress in the back of my closet!
The whole set is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....03/detail/
Monday: Semi-casual for the office. The pants are a faux-denim from ATL, and they're kind of a struggle to find the right dressier top to go with them. So I dressed it down, with my navy-and-white striped tee, silver beaded necklace, cranberry cardigan, and brown croc flats. Don't think I'll be repeating this outfit, but it looked okay.

Tuesday: My first neutral outfit in my new size! I have really missed all the browns and tans I used to have in my closet, so I've been glad to restock with at least a few pieces. ATL cardigan, Kohls knit top, ATL tan pants, open-toed brown rattan-style leather flats.

I was glad to get some use again out of the leather-pearls-and-stones mixed necklace from F&T. It was a staple of mine two summers ago!

Wednesday: The rest of the week I was meeting with clients so I had to do dressier. The ruched dress is here, with the blue cropped cardigan open this time, and paired with a blue-and-green stone necklace from ATL, and my peeptoe wedges. It's such a simple outfit, but the strong personality of the dress makes it look so dressy and crisp! And bless it all, it doesn't even need ironing after coming out of the wash. LOVE.

Thursday: Here is the opposite of a strong personality dress; this one is an old one from BR that I had in the back of my closet. It used to be too small (I bought it on clearance a few years ago and in fact never wore it) and now it is a little big, but it's one of those shapeless, simple black knit dresses that you are indestructible and that you can accessorize to death. So I did! *g* Triple-strand grey pearls with leather knots, cranberry cardigan, pink-patterned thin scarf used as obi, and new pinstripe peeptoe heels.

Sadly, the heels are going to the back of my closet; they're about a half-inch too high and the support is too thin, which makes them fine for parties or dressy occasions, but they can't be in rotation for work. :( They were cheap from Famous Footwear, and after two wearings, I can tell. This is why I always stick to the good shoes for my work heels! Lesson learned.
Heh, I also added my turquoise glasses as the last accessory for the black dress: http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....011604303/
Friday: Amusingly, the day I saw the CEO in her cool summery white-and-black suit, I was ALSO going for an all black-and-white outfit! ATL short-sleeved jacket over the ATL polka-dot dress.

I had to add in the maize crossbody bag just to give it a little color! http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....011604303/
I took the dress in to the tailor to shorten the straps, which are too long now. The front of the dress kept sliding down all day, making the cami top show up more and more (see both photos as comparison). The rest of the dress still fits fine, but the droopy straps were making me crazy!
Saturday: Sunny and muggy-humid hot all day. I was out shopping so I wore my cute new Kohls sundress, sandals and my crossbody. It was much too hot for leggings, and it made the outfit more casual than I was going for. This was perfect for trying on pants, sliding on and off for other dresses, etc. I never got hot, and I actually think wearing it kept me from too many impulse purchases; I felt so cute and perky in it, it set the bar high for anything new I might want to add.

Hilariously, I was wandering through the Coach store and the salesgirl stopped me to ask where I got the dress. After we were done marveling at the improbability of finding something like this at Kohls, she busted out, "I just have to tell you, your breasts look incredible in that!" Bwahahahahaha! That certainly explained all the stares I got from random guys. ;-D
Sunday: Went to take photos as Hubby launched his new fishing boat (a rowboat, but it's his first ever and he was so excited). This is as "gear" as I get: black ATL shorts and a cute fuschia ATF top.

I'm posting this outfit mainly for the shoes. Patience had been asking a while back about what kind of shoes to wear at the pool all day; these are aquatic shoes I got from Lands End this year, and I LOVE them. They have drainage holes in the bottoms so you can wear them on land or in the water -- perfect for camping, wading out to a boat to jump in, hanging around the pool, swimming and walking in a lake when you don't know what might be on the bottom (rocks, marsh grasses, little animals). I suspect I will get a LOT of use out of them whenever I am not out shopping, LOL. Plus, they are yellow, very comfy, and ridiculously cute!

You are looking so great- I especially love that polka-dot dress. And you have the perfect legs to wear with those ankle strap shoes. (I'm a wee bit jealous)
Great to know about those shoes- my daughter and I both are going to pick some up for the rocky, barnacle-y beaches here in the northwest.
Kristen, I haven't commented on your outfits lately, but I just had to say that you look absolutely incredible and you have gorgeous legs! My favoriite is the polka-dot dress and I also really like the striped shirt outfit. And the neutral Tuesday is so elegant. Great week.
Aw, thanks! I wasn't sure about the ankle straps on those shoes but my feet slide out without them so I had no choice. Now I am starting to think I might look at other shoes with the same style...I used to avoid it like the plague!
The shoes are here at Sears: http://landsend.com/pp/MaryJan.....0000044587
They were on sale at the store when I stopped to do some exchanges on the suits, but they seem to be full-price online. Hrm. They will be great for rocky beaches!
Thanks, Marianne! It's so funny, I get dressed in the morning now and look down at my legs, and I'm always kind of amazed they are mine! :) It's astonishing what parts of me were lurking underneath all that weight, waiting to be seen better.
I wasn't sure about the striped top look; I think I still need to play with that top to find the right combo for it, but I do like its boldness. I'm glad it got the thumbs-up from you; it wasn't a popular top on YLF when I got it a couple months ago, but I kept it because I had lost the tag. :)
Wow Kristen - another stellar week!! Like other people I was totally impressed by your hot legs!!! Love love love your polka dot dresss, the neutral top and the ruffly dress - those outfits are simply sublime!!!
You look great and you have built an amazing wardrobe. I love how much color you wear on that great figure of yours.
Great week Kristen! I love, love the polka dot dress. And the black+blue cardi outfits are just fantastic. I'm glad you decided to hang on to the dress you wore shopping, it looks fab on you, showcasing all your awesome assets ;-) You have awesome legs Kristen, keep rocking them!
Great outfits Kristen. The dress is my fav followed by the neutral outfit on Tuesday. You are looking fantastic!!!
Kristen, you always make me wish that I had an office job- just so I could dress like you. :)
Kristen, you look amazing in all of your outifts. Your work style is definitely influencing me!
You look amazing! Love your color cardigans! You look great in dresses but I love also the beije pants.. it fits you like a glove!
Thanks all! I actually don't have that big a wardrobe, as I am figuring out when I haven't done laundry yet in a week *g*, but I am having fun putting everything together. The dresses are easy, but they tend to get boring in repeats. I'll be working on that. But the polka-dot will come back into rotation once the straps are fixed.
ROFL @ Khris! Believe me, you don't want a boring office job.
P.S. All the legs compliments make me blush! :) I worry about showing too much leg sometimes, but I think I'm finding the right balance for shorter at home and longer at work.
You are shrinking! Each time you post, I see less of you as your style quotient continues to increase at a rate of knots. You look fab, Kristen! Do you feel fab too?
Which have been your favourite new wardrobe pieces so far?
Aww, thanks, Angie! I do feel pretty fab, as I discussed in the weight-loss/body image thread. This forum has been so beneficial in helping me come to terms and appreciate my new shape. Seeing my photos and how my body evolved, experimenting with new styles after seeing them tried out here, reading all your sensible advice -- it's been a wonderful influence on me. Thank you so much for that!
I don't actually know if I have a favorite piece yet; I am loving several of my patterned dresses, but I am not sure I have found the KILLER one yet. It's either the length or the fabric or something that makes it just miss the mark. So I keep looking!
I'm also mad for all the yellow tops (sweater, blouses, etc) I have been finding; I have to stop myself from buying every new piece in yellow. But, I am having a hard time incorporating them into my wardrobe; I love it with white, tan, and navy, but I only have a few dresses or bottoms in those colors. Black is still one of the predominant base colors in my wardrobe and I don't like how it looks with yellow; I always think I look like a bumblebee! :)
Any suggestions for a better base color for the yellow?
Kristen, I go ga ga over those gams every time you post a dress. The most fabulous thing about your post is all the fun you and hubby seem to be having.
I love the Tuesday outfit. It's funny that you mentioned it being neutral. I find it had more pop than the other outfits because of your gorgeous blouse.
Regarding the yellow question... what about grey? And, with black, what about pairing with a scarf that has a colorful print? That would become the focus and take it away from a bumblebee look.
