I tried some new things this week: neutrals, semi-business casual, a summer casual dress for the heat, a gear outfit, and even found a "new" dress in the back of my closet!

The whole set is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....03/detail/

Monday: Semi-casual for the office. The pants are a faux-denim from ATL, and they're kind of a struggle to find the right dressier top to go with them. So I dressed it down, with my navy-and-white striped tee, silver beaded necklace, cranberry cardigan, and brown croc flats. Don't think I'll be repeating this outfit, but it looked okay.

Tuesday: My first neutral outfit in my new size! I have really missed all the browns and tans I used to have in my closet, so I've been glad to restock with at least a few pieces. ATL cardigan, Kohls knit top, ATL tan pants, open-toed brown rattan-style leather flats.

I was glad to get some use again out of the leather-pearls-and-stones mixed necklace from F&T. It was a staple of mine two summers ago!

Wednesday: The rest of the week I was meeting with clients so I had to do dressier. The ruched dress is here, with the blue cropped cardigan open this time, and paired with a blue-and-green stone necklace from ATL, and my peeptoe wedges. It's such a simple outfit, but the strong personality of the dress makes it look so dressy and crisp! And bless it all, it doesn't even need ironing after coming out of the wash. LOVE.

Thursday: Here is the opposite of a strong personality dress; this one is an old one from BR that I had in the back of my closet. It used to be too small (I bought it on clearance a few years ago and in fact never wore it) and now it is a little big, but it's one of those shapeless, simple black knit dresses that you are indestructible and that you can accessorize to death. So I did! *g* Triple-strand grey pearls with leather knots, cranberry cardigan, pink-patterned thin scarf used as obi, and new pinstripe peeptoe heels.

Sadly, the heels are going to the back of my closet; they're about a half-inch too high and the support is too thin, which makes them fine for parties or dressy occasions, but they can't be in rotation for work. They were cheap from Famous Footwear, and after two wearings, I can tell. This is why I always stick to the good shoes for my work heels! Lesson learned.

Heh, I also added my turquoise glasses as the last accessory for the black dress: http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....011604303/

Friday: Amusingly, the day I saw the CEO in her cool summery white-and-black suit, I was ALSO going for an all black-and-white outfit! ATL short-sleeved jacket over the ATL polka-dot dress.

I had to add in the maize crossbody bag just to give it a little color! http://www.flickr.com/photos/k.....011604303/

I took the dress in to the tailor to shorten the straps, which are too long now. The front of the dress kept sliding down all day, making the cami top show up more and more (see both photos as comparison). The rest of the dress still fits fine, but the droopy straps were making me crazy!

Saturday: Sunny and muggy-humid hot all day. I was out shopping so I wore my cute new Kohls sundress, sandals and my crossbody. It was much too hot for leggings, and it made the outfit more casual than I was going for. This was perfect for trying on pants, sliding on and off for other dresses, etc. I never got hot, and I actually think wearing it kept me from too many impulse purchases; I felt so cute and perky in it, it set the bar high for anything new I might want to add.

Hilariously, I was wandering through the Coach store and the salesgirl stopped me to ask where I got the dress. After we were done marveling at the improbability of finding something like this at Kohls, she busted out, "I just have to tell you, your breasts look incredible in that!" Bwahahahahaha! That certainly explained all the stares I got from random guys. ;-D

Sunday: Went to take photos as Hubby launched his new fishing boat (a rowboat, but it's his first ever and he was so excited). This is as "gear" as I get: black ATL shorts and a cute fuschia ATF top.

I'm posting this outfit mainly for the shoes. Patience had been asking a while back about what kind of shoes to wear at the pool all day; these are aquatic shoes I got from Lands End this year, and I LOVE them. They have drainage holes in the bottoms so you can wear them on land or in the water -- perfect for camping, wading out to a boat to jump in, hanging around the pool, swimming and walking in a lake when you don't know what might be on the bottom (rocks, marsh grasses, little animals). I suspect I will get a LOT of use out of them whenever I am not out shopping, LOL. Plus, they are yellow, very comfy, and ridiculously cute!

They're on sale right now at Sears if you like them.
