Outfit CHALLENGE: Spring Picasso (ETA added).

I’m kicking off a series of challenges with paintings by my favourite artist. I chose 5 across an assortment of colour palettes:

The challenge: Create one outfit that is inspired by one of the paintings.

For the industrious: Pick a painting for each day of the week and create an outfit accordingly.

The more relaxed approach: There is no need to complete all five outfit paintings in one week. Take two weeks if that’s more manageable. Or pick fewer paintings, like one or two. Whatever tickles your fancy and keeps the challenge fun is good.

Process: DO NOT post your outfits on this thread. Start a new thread for each outfit and attach the painting that inspired the look.

Start Date: Monday, March 16th, 2015.

There is no right or wrong way to interpret the paintings to create an outfit. No need to buy anything new for the looks. Let the creative juices flow and enjoy yourselves. Pictures taken outside in good daylight are appreciated, but not essential.

Let me know in the comments section if you’d like to participate in the challenge so that we can look out for your fabulous outfits.

ETA: I'm changing the challenge guidelines. Feel free to post several outfits based on one painting if that tickles your fancy and makes things more fun. Please post them on SEPARATE threads. Why not. Rock on.

What an awesome challenge Angie, I am totally in! I will try to do 5 outfits next week but it may take two weeks. Either way it should be fun!

Fantastic and fun idea! Count me in. Here's hoping sunlight cooperates for photos. If this rain continues, I'll be feeling like the dude in painting #3.

Or maybe that dude's a lady. Is that an eyeball or a breast? Picasso keeps me guessing.

Love Picasso. Have very limited clothing with me on my trip. I will see how I do. I have had days when I have felt like some of the paintings.

I enjoyed browsing through Pinterest selecting the Picasso paintings I thought would make for great outfit inspiration - and that I liked myself too, of course.

Absolutely! I love Picasso, but haven't been to an exhibit in many years. The last time was at the Phila. Art Museum back in the '90's. I will do all, but it might take longer than a week.

Karie, high five. I've seen quite a bit of Picasso at different museums in Europe (and here in Seattle too). It never gets old. I am very moved by much of his genius work.

I'm in! This will serve as a lovely distraction as we gear up for 3 more major snowstorms in the upcoming week.

The past art challenges have always been fun, but looking back, took me out of my neutral-loving comfort territory farther than I wanted to be. But these paintings are very neutral friendly, and I was going to wear my bright green sweater on Tuesday in any case...

I am Game! I love inspirations like this for a week... I had fun doing the black, olive and white one for a few days.. I planned a few options for St. Patrick's Day first and then I am in! .Thanks Angie!

Sharan, good point - I might need to insist an bras with sheer tops for this challenge.

There is plenty of neutral inspiration for those who do not prefer colour.

That's perfect, Caro. Go with whichever paintings tickle your fancy in your own time over the next fortnight. It's all fab.

Yay, Angie! I'm game, too! I love Picasso, and I've seen several of his paintings. I particularly remember the modern museum in Ceret in Southern France. Small but significant. Your choices give a lot of inspiration - yesterday I aquired a chambray dress that can be put into action, hm....

That puts a big smile on my face, Angie. I will be very interesting to see the results of this challenge. I notice a lot of opportunities for both the neutrals and for primary colors, and for textures, pattern and details that can be interpreted in a personal style.
