Outfit CHALLENGE: Favourite Fashion Eras

This challenge was inspired by the passion on a thread about your favourite fashion eras a few weeks ago:

The challenge: Create an outfit that is inspired by a favourite fashion era.

For the industrious: Pick a different (or the same) fashion era and create outfits all week. Or create two or three outfits.

Process: DO NOT post your outfits on this thread. Start a new thread for each outfit and attach the inspiration picture if there is one.

Start Date: Monday, April 6, 2015

No one expects you to wear the outfit in public unless you want to. Don’t hold back. Think about the hair and make-up of that era too. Go to town. Let the creative juices flow and enjoy yourselves. Pictures taken outside in good daylight are appreciated, but not essential.

Oh, fun! I know I can definitely do a Victorian/Edwardian inspired one. Will have to think about the 20's. (I love the styles but they don't particularly suit my body type...) I can at least do a cloche hat though!

And I WILL be wearing my outfits to work. That is my own personal rule for these challenges. So no super crazy headgear.

I am embarrassed to admit I do not know my fashion eras I will have to sit on the sideline and observe.

I have broad shoulders by nature so think all my curent looks are definetely having a 80's vibe(LOL), but will try to make one with the shoulder pads, too! (AND? IF don't forget my plans till next week).

For your amusement only. We used velcro fastening removable shoulder pads for all tops/sweaters or toppers. Remember I did have a bl&w dougtooth winter weight coat suit. You know midcalf skirt (with a very high vent on back:-)) and a double breasted peacoat same fabric (but with a high mandarin black collar, which could be then folded down when unbuttoned and was black on the reverse for a springier and smarter look). Peacoat had winterweight (so big enough) shoulder pads, of course. And I wore a hand knitted (by Mom:-)) yellow angora chuncky sweater underneath, which had some removable shoulder pads-for not loosing the vibe for indoors-too-so, broad shoulders and double padded:-). But looking good as tall, and slim back then. My mother used to have our clothes made on order so trips to the fashion salon was pretty common. Once I went there dressed like said above, and asked to make me naother coat. I brought in the fabric and only showed a pictie from a fashion mag to the new for me tailor. I was in a hurry and didn't take off my coat-and he kindly asked me: -do you really want shoulder pads with these shoulders, madmoiselle:-).

Oooh! What to choose? I seem to love a little bit of both the 60's, 70's and 80's plus some 90's minimal aesthetic. Let me think…. I'm definitely in!

Ok, I read this post and then went off to think, as obviously I have to play with what's available in my wardrobe...no fancy dress costume making So the upshot is, I think I may be able to manage two outfits.

So fun! I'll try to find the time to participate. I'm thinking the careless look of early 90's grunge would fit my MOTG lifestyle. The essence is bed hair, plaid shirt worn open over t-shirt, baggy, ripped jeans and Dr Martens style shoes.

Eek! I'm gonna try for 1920's (I've wanted an excuse to wear that dress) and 1930's Depending how that goes I may try for some other eras as well.

I am in! I think I mentioned three different decades on that thread, and I will be going for two. I will do 70s and 50s. Chances are all the outfits would be too much for my work place, and it is supposed to rain the whole week, so the outfits might be for the forum only.

Oh fun! I'm in for at least one day next week; due to a trip & the inevitable pre-trip chaos I don't know if I'll be able to manage the industrious level. But I want to! Either way, I'll be wearing my outfits outside the house.

Ooh fun - I was too busy to read or put much thought in to that thread, but I love a challenge, and just bought a few pairs of flares, so I'm thinking that the 70s will be my favorite era of the week (which is likely what I'd have chosen for my favorite era, along with 90s grunge, anyway).

Oh fun! I'm not good at fashion eras and will be out of town next week for work (to a small rural community where I will be doing lots of walking so will be wearing jeans and hiking boots) so will have to sit this one out. I look forward to seeing everyone's creations!

Lol rachylou this I wanna see. I wish I could find a photo of me and my sister (age about 8 and 4) wearing a great-great(?) grandmother's actual Victorian dresses and hats. At that age our waists fit and we weren't that much off in height either. 'Little women' was an accurate descriptor

Ok, you're not going to believe this... DH is out, DS is playing on his i-pad, so I've just spent an hour and a half playing in my closet, and have 3 sets of photos all good to go for next week!! Keen or what???

Thing is, I may not have as much time next week, and one day is taken up for a root canal . Strike while the iron's hot and all that

I'll miss this...I'm taking my DS to Vermont for a couple of college visits. I'm not sure about my favorite fashion era anyway. Maybe I don't have a favorite.
