Oldies: the twin sets ETA a third

Another group of oldies, over 6 years in my closet...some twin sets. This one surprised me, but they are handy for fickle temperatures and help me feel pulled together, although I usually do not wear the twins together. Mine are a sleeveless shell and a long sleeved cardigan. None contain wool. The ones pictured are silk and a blend of rayon and nylon. Are these too dated to keep?
1/2: stylized leopard print in grey, black and blue on white. Good with black, white, grey or denim bottoms. A nice weight and can be used for pattern mixing with striped. Shown with oldie black Chico pants. Ignore flats. I was using them as slippers.
2-5: lavender silk knit set with some sparkles on the cardigan. Shown with Kut white jeans that are getting old. Shown with the front done up ( small hidden hooks and eyes) and open. Handy for a casual Easter get together with white jeans or white jean skirt. A pastel shade that also gets worn with light wash jeans. Would be ok with black or grey trousers.
ETA 6/7: tomato red set. Hardly ever worn together. Kept because the color is my best red. Worn often with blue ( navy or turquoise)

They look good to my eye and worth keeping. The blue I think is better than the lilac. I think the blue would be great with white and grey as you say. I think these types of pieces are worth keeping so long as you think you will wear them because they are such easy pieces to pick on when you haven’t time or energy to consider.

I really like the blue and grey one. The lilac I don't particularly like, but it looks better not done up, to me. I have a bit of a personal poison eye for lilac I think and to me it doesn't look your usual interesting style. However please take my opinion with a grain of salt since it's personal and also since lilac is apparently on trend this year?

The leopard one is very striking and I d definitely keep that ,the lilac one doesn’t appeal so much,nothing wrong with it but it suffers the n comparison.

I think they are both quite sweet. They look good quality and a nice fit, if it were me I would keep them a bit longer.

I love the lilac one actually ... I love twin sets in general and noticed they we're reappearing in stores this spring. Good keepers!

I like both also (have similar color palette) and think that each gives styling options. The print in 1 is cool and the front detail on 2 is cute.
I do think it’s great that you also like to wear them as separates. With summer coming ( talk about optimism) I am sure the sleeveless shell will get use with skirts and shorts too. And I think yes to black pants question.
I think there is still some life in those pieces.

I am a lover of twin sets. The first one is stellar in terms of interest and fit. You look GREAT.

The second one does not look as fabulous on you. After some consideration, I decided it is the front closure that is throwing off my eye. Specifically, I focus on the front and miss the woman wearing it.

I like both, but the twin sets as you wear in #5, I agree with others keep them.

While I no longer have any twin sets, they warm my classic heart. I like the first one best, but the lilac one looks fine, too.

I like them both. Agree that the first one is better than the second but both look very good. I like the lilac one with white, it's very spring/summery. However I believe you said you wanted to pare back your wardrobe a bit so do what feels best.

Thank you, Chris. You and others have convinced me to keep the blue and consider getting rid of the lavender. That shade does nothing for me. I think it will go into a holding zone until I am sure that neither piece is a completer of a favorite outfit.
I added a red set today, old and my only other twin set. It is a nice weight of cotton that does not cling. The white buttons on the cardigan are a bit limiting though.

The lilac one seems a little dated to me, but I’m another who has a bit of a poison eye for the color, so take that with a grain of salt. I think I’d like the print set better broken up, but it could be really versatile that way. And the tomato red is spot-on. Looks fab!

Thanks, Jenn. I really value your opinion. I have actually worn the lavender as a set at Thanksgiving with chocolate brown. Thinking it could be a bit festive, but the color is not deep enough for me. Time to pass it on as there are things I can wear instead.

I like the red best by far. SUPER cute. Pass on the lavender set - top is too short, Joy.

I like the fit of twinset #1. Pants are off though - too short or too long. Would you like to hem, perhaps?

I, too, think the red look best. But I wouldn't urge you to donate the others. Rather, for #1 I suggest wearing just one of the pieces at a time, and styling it with a light item, as there's a lot going one here, and it is dark and dramatic. For #2, I suggest styling it with a darker bottom + darker scarf/jewellery, to add some visual weight and interest.

Joy, you have fantastic wardrobe. Again, I like all the three twinsets. No 1 is outstanding dramatic and fun. It suits you very well and to my eye not dated at all. Really special. You can wear the pieces together or separately - I think it’s a great set to have in your wardrobe.
The lavender is sweet and pretty and sounds like lovely quality. It could be styled in different ways as The Cat suggests. I like it buttoned up better than open.
The red one is a total winner. You look soo gorgeous in it. That one you just must keep, Joy.

Thank you very much, Angie. I will probably retire those pants or see if I can let the hem out and use them for gardening. I have other black pants and do not wear them very often.

The Cat, thank you for your ideas. I think the lavender will go and the blue be put on probation. I may keep the shell part as it will be less pattern and works well on a hot day to add interest to plain crops or my denim skirt.
Katerina, thank you for your wise comment. I don't do sweet and pretty very well. So the lavender cardi especially will probably go. #1 gets lots of compliments but may go to a holding zone. I want to try a couple of ideas including pattern mixing, with it. There may be a cardigan battle with a floral silk cardigan. I will keep the red as I found out today that the weight is just right for 50F transitional weather. I had been trying to wear this in warm weather and it would be too warm.

Love the red set Joy, the print one is second best. Love the color of the lilac one, but the fit is not as good as the other two, although I like it better with the cardigan open.

The red set is a keeper - great color on you. Also I like the way you've styled it with trendy cropped wides and a scarf. I'd pass on the other two sets, they don't seem fab enough for you.

Joy, first off, I would like to compliment you on your lovely, lovely figure. You wear these so well. I have noticed that the formula cigarette pants + ballerina + interesting topper has been a true winner for you. I have found many of your previous outfits on this theme to be quite inspiring.

But I would like to encourage you, just like Angie said, to go out of your comfort zone and try different bottoms for your lovely leopard twin set. Here are things that come to my mind:

- Black assymetrical midi + dainty heels / heeled booties
- High-waisted palazzo pants
- High waisted cropped pants with above mentioned footwear.
- White denim pencil skirt
- Or anything else you find wild and different!

More votes for the red. I just realized that the red color could be good with my Gap khaki crops.
