New tops and jackets - need opinions, please!

I bought a couple of tops and jackets a few weeks ago and have been meaning to ask everybody for critiques. Chewyspaghetti, I swear this was before the May 11 shopping ban!

This is a white jacket I spotted at JCP by Allen B. I was quite taken in by the fit at the store and overjoyed to find a light weight 3/4 sleeve one button jacket. But I'm not sure about it at all now. Hubby has quite an eye for detail and said it wasn't "cool"

This is a pretty cream with gold flecks jacket I found at ATL. Again, light weight, 3/4 sleeve and one button and a little dressy. It also has this cute pleat detailing on the pockets. Again, hubby didn't like this either.

Lastly, this is a green V neck cropped cardi from JCP. I really like this and it is just so comfortable. Has cute button detail on the sleeve cuff.

I love the ATL cream jacket and green cardi.

I'm not sure about the white- the jacket looks fine, but maybe is a little bit of a stark white. I do like it better unbuttoned. I'm still developing my "style eye" so you'll have to let others weigh in on it.

Can I just say- your hair is gorgeous!

I agree with sinead regarding the white jacket; it's a bit stark. And it seems a little tight around the chest when buttoned.

The cream jacket fits better and the softer white flatters your skintone.

The green cardi is so cute!

I am a newbie here, but I agree with Sinead and Cciele.

I think the white jacket may be a wee bit small when buttoned, but the cream jacket and green cardi look great!

The cream jacket is fabulous! And the green cardi is super! KEEP.

The white jacket is a little snug buttoned, which isn’t a train smash seeing as you can wear jackets unbuttoned no problem. It’s the “white lab coat thing” – and I’m addressing this in a blog post tomorrow. White jackets look best with contrasting buttons in black, brown or metal. Return this white jacket and look for a bit of contrast or texture. Hope that makes sense.

I agree with all of you. The white of the white jacket does have a lab coat thingy going on. And the fit is snug on buttoning it. Now that I visualize the details you mention, it makes perfect sense Angie. Jacket is going right back to the store.

I'm still training my eye to pick up on details that will or will not flatter. I have conceded to myself I wasn't born with an innate eye for what works It is a work in progress.

Really looking forward to that post Angie, I like the idea of owning a white jacket, esp for the searing summers here in FL.

what great finds! i had the "white lab coat" thing going on when i tried one on this spring - i like angie's solution of contrasting buttons. i wish i would've thought of that earlier!

i love love love the second jacket though! it was made for you!

Wow, I love the ATL jacket on you! I actually like the white jacket too (unbuttoned) but I see what Angie is saying. I have a similar one (light, 3/4 sleeves) from last summer but mine is eyelet so there is less of the lab coat feel. I think one button jackets are really tricky (I usually avoid them to be honest) - button placement is so important. You see how different it can be in the white versus the gold.

taylor *blush*, shell, shana, thank you! I more I look at the pictures of the jacket, the more lab coat I see now LOL. And I definitely see how just the button placement can make the fit so much better. I love the fit of the ATL jacket, and it is so comfortable to boot. The lining feels so luxurious!

I've been cautious of other type of jackets because I feel they tend to look boxy, but I do keep trying them on so hopefully I will find another summer jacket soon!
