New dresses for summer - Keep or return?

Wanting to bulk up on dresses for this season, I bought 3 new dresses hoping to keep 1 or 2. I'd love for them to be 10s but considering I've kept them all under $30, I don't mind 8's for a season or two, provided they can be versatile.

1) Spense Colorblock dress
I'm not sure. I love the colorblocking but it is a bit wider at the waist than I expected. The biggest problem however is that the bust darts are are just too emphatic..like I am perpetually cold, LOL.

2) Target/Merona Ponte sheath
I bought this thinking it would be a good basic alternative to my black woven Merona sheath that I bought last year that I wear almost once a week. It is a little more substantial that the woven sheath. Can a gal have too many everyday black sheaths?

3) BR faux wrap dress
I really do like this, especially the sleeves. It is light weight, comfortable and still substantial enough, for warm weather.

I hope my face doesn't look too slick, I had to steal some time while waiting in between coats of paint

I LOVE #3! Definitely a 10. I'd say #2 is a good solid 9, at least.

I don't know if it's because I read your commentary first, but now I'm all upset about the darts in #`1...

On a scale of 1 to 10, the BR dress is a 15. Seriously. If they make it in other colors that suit you, I'd get them! I like the Target sheath but I think the length doesn't hit your sweet spot the way the other two dresses do. I vote return the colorblock, as I think you're right about the darts being too prominent.

Your shoes are adorable! Mind me asking what they are?

I also like all three of them. I see what you mean in #1, but maybe that just gets accentuated in the picture? It sure looks great on you!

All are cute but if you must return something, return #1. I see what you mean about the darts, don't want anyone getting the wrong idea. But #3 is awesome!! It's really the perfect fit for you.

The third one is by far my favorite on you! #2 comes in a very respectable second, and #1 is a distant third.

Vani, I love both the second and third--you look gorgeous in them--unless that is too much black for you. If you want just one black dress, keep #3, and perhaps return #2 for a different color if one is available?

I'm sorry to say this, but I noticed the pointy bust darts in #1 before I read your remarks. I also find the color-blocking over the bust and waist a little odd--like a bikini or something? I can't imagine that most women would want to attract the eye to the lighter areas--just an odd design.

You look fabulous in dresses! Keep 3 for sure. I have more than my share of black sheath dresses in different lengths and fabrics and wear them often, so suppport your keeping #2. I like the bit longer length for a change.
As chouette22 said, maybe the dart problem of the first dress is more noticable in photos, but I vote return because you will probably not wear it with the photo image in your head.

Without reading the other posts, in order of appearance, I'd say: 7, 9, 10. Definitely keep #3!

#2 is great too... if it fills a need, keep that one too.
I thought the bust area of #1 was awkward and bulky looking even before reading your commentary. I'd return that one.

Love 3--a keeper for sure. It fits like a dream and is uber flattering and a bit shexy because it highlights your curves. I think 2 is a nice basic--it's not a 10 but it looks versatile and polished. For the price, it is worth considering as a keeper. I love the idea of 1 but honestly, the bust darts are like arrows. I always sneak a peek at pics before reading text and those darts were the first thing I noticed. That one's a return, IMHO.

3 is awesome, 2 is great and looks very versatile, you can't keep 1. I noticed the darts before reading your comment, and they are droopy darts to boot!

I haven't looked at the other response yet so here goes...definitely keep the wrap dress. You look so gorgeous in it. In fact, the other two pictures pale in comparison. The second dress isn't bad so (probably a 7.5 - 8) so if you need it to be a workhorse, I can see it filling that part. The first dress makes you look top heavy to my eye, I would return. I think you can find a more flattering color blocked dress this season so I'd hold out. That's my 2 cents

I vote 2 and 3. The color blocking is odd in #1, although the shape and fit are nice. #2 looks like a nice basic with some texture already in the dress. #3 is just lovely and my favorite of the group.

I like all of these! Especially since they were $30 and you don't have the requirement of them being absolute 10's - keep 'em all.

I'm voting keep #3 for sure! Keep #2 next - both are black, but the two styles and sleeve lengths make them different enough if you don't already have multiple black dresses.

#1 is not as flattering - yes, the darts are poorly done but could be adjusted. However, the specific color blocking defines the bust pretty dramatically (can't help but it reminds me of Viking women!) Woud you wear a jacket over it? That might make a big difference?

#3 for sure (looks like that's a popular opinion!) and I also like #2 on you a lot.

#1 could probably be fixed with alterations and I like the retro neckline...but the colorblocking does highlight certain assets.

Since 3 gets a unanimous vote, it is staying for sure! I think I will hang on to 2 while I holdout for something with sleeves or even the BR dress to go on sale in other colors (I have another month before I have to return).

Now coming to 3. I had to laugh out loud because you are all so right. I felt the same, but then I always think my "chesticles" (trying out the new addition to YLF lingo) are always out there in your face anyways so I had to see if it was just me or if everybody felt the same. The colorblocking makes it look gorgeous but the devil is in the details and this dress just doesn't cut it. So back it goes.

Sparky, absolutely - the shoes are Nine West teal wedges. Sorry I can't recall the model but if it helps I picked them up at an outlet store just over a year ago.

Haha, thanks AJ!! I saw some cute new dresses in the same price point at Target today so I'm leaning heavily towards returning the black sheath also. I'm wearing my current black sheath today and I love everything about it so I guess I should just gun for an investment sheath at this point.
