Hi Ladies,

I would like to buy a new coat for Winter and I'm considering #3.

It's ink and is an oversized almost/subtle cocoon shape. Had a try on today and I like it but think I need other eyes on this one. How does the fit look to you? It's is the smallest size available. It has a dropped shoulder seam. It looks a bit average in the catalogue pic but IRL it's a bit fab lol:)

It's ponti and is light to wear but deliciously warm.

Does it have a closure? A winter coat without closures seems wrong to me - perhaps your winter isn't that cold? It's very stylish but looks to be more of a topper than a coat. I would freeze to death in ponte in winter!

Una put my first thought into words! No way to close it? Even in our milder Aussie winters that'd be a deal breaker for me.

Una, I think our winters just might be laughable compared to yours lol. It's rare for us to drop below 0 and that's normally overnight. No snow here either. As you know I layer and there is room to layer a blazer or jacket under this. There is no closure but I could add a press stud or hook that would be unseen if necessary. Also I drive to work. So in truth I'm not out in the elements all that much. In truth it's more of a fashion coat I am after:)

I love this on you and think it is perfect for an Aussie winter. I much prefer the length of the coat on you to the catalogue pic as it looks too short on the model. My one issue with winter coats is that they can feel to heavy on, so if this is light to wear, then I think it is a great addition to your wardrobe. I like the black piping which works so well when wearing the coat with black.

I like it from a fashion perspective and for the uses you described it would work well. The length colour and shape are good on you. Is this a Motto one?

I have two wool winter coats and I have worn them once each to date! I was planning to get a new one but I am thinking something a little lighter is a good option, although I do like to close coats against wind.

I have worn my lightweight puffer and my raincoat the most this year- both definitely gear!

All of the above... it looks fine, and probably enough for your purposes. Do you have or want something to go outdoors in winter? If so, I would go for something with closures even if you do layer underneath....
btw, when your coat is sorted we can work on mine lol!

Fair enough re driving. I have a 700m+ walk to the bus at 7:30am so that colours my experience!

I really like the subtle oversized look to it with the dropped shoulder seam and slight cocoon shape. I think it goes really well with your style.

Another yes vote. I like the coat for your style. Personally I would have no problem with it being Ponte. (But I hardly ever need a coat. A jacket is usually enough for me.) The fact that it can't shut might bother me a little on windy days but, if that does not worry you, I say go for it!

I like the coat for your style Deborah. I do wonder about the closure part but it seems that you have something in mind. I am very envious of your winters. I am a ball of fleece in the winter. Fashion doesn't exist. I would wear that coat inside to keep warm.

It's gorgeous on you, and looks much better than the stock photo. If you don't need it for true warmth or gear, I think it's a keeper. A ponte coat/topper sounds kind of awesome to me....lightweight warmth. Our winters are so cold, wet, and snowy that I am jealous.

You look gorgeous in the coat. My only concern is, as others have mentioned, that without a closure it might not give you the warmth you need on the coldest days. If this is an addition to an already existing "coat capsule", then this might not even be an issue. You may have other coats that you can wear if you need more warmth and coverage.

It looks so much better on you than in the stock photo - I imagine it's better again in real life. Ponte sounds like it could be a good weight for you. Your winter still sounds cold to me!

For your winters (as described above) should be fine! I think cut and fit is all gorgeous, fits you perfect and matches your current wardrobe and style!

Looks good and very much in keeping with your style. I like the ink, and it seems to have black edging to tie things together when you wear all black. If you love it, you have a yay vote from me.

It's nice but the sleeves look short -- not quite bracelet length (like they appear to be in the stock photo). And the lack of closure, while not a dealbreaker, gives me pause too. Are you just starting to look? Unless you are deeply in love, I would be inclined to keep looking. Somehow this is not blowing me away like so many of your other pieces.

I am envious that this counts as a "winter" coat!! It's lovely but would be completely useless in my climate. Sigh.

I like it too - but am killing myself laughing at how this is a " Winter coat ". Ah, to live south of Equator However, and regarding the no-closure aspect - that's never bothered me in moderate weather, and I'm sure if you needed one for harsher weather you'd wear something else. This looks great the way you've style it here. I really wish Canada had retail options like Motto.

My first thought was that it actually looks black in your pics Deborah.
Did they lighten it in the stock pics?
I quite like it for your needs, and size wise it looks OK especially for layering underneath.

I will try it again on Friday and make a final decision. And it's not my only coat... I do have warmer ones xxx

Yes! It looks gorgeous, very classy, and just made for that outfit you are wearing it over. The fit is fantastic. I trust your judgment about its suitability for climate. (To me, it looks like a fabulous indoor topper, which makes agree with CocoLion--let's move to your neck of the woods!)
