April, I think the Macy's photo is much closer to the real shade. Vix described it perfectly: a "very light, cool beige/platinum-y driftwood color." It's not a warm cream, but more like a silvertoned beige. A beautiful shade (and quite light) but definitely cool. The photos I posted where I'm wearing it are very representative of the color (and compared it to the first pics of the Boden trench which is in contrast a warm off-white).

Hi April --

I see Beth beat me to photos of #1 (the Kenneth Cole, but in "Sand" vs "Plum") while I was away.

As I suckered Mr Vix into taking a couple of shots to give you an idea of the color, though, I'll post mine too.

#1 = In Oregon's elusive creature, SUN...which really brings out the fabric's sheen
#2 = In our usual element

Hearing that you don't want bright makes me think the plum shade may not be for you. Color is very subjective, of course, but comparing what I saw in person to the Nordstrom vs Macy's photos I'd say the Nordstrom version is closer -- again, though, it appeared much brighter to me.

[It's a gorgeous shade -- the sales staff were oohing and awwwing as my order was the first time they'd seen it in person -- but it didn't enhance my skintone. ]

ps Please ignore the bunched-up right pants leg...I didn't readjust post-sand walking!

Thank you, Vix! Your photos along with Beth's clearly show that this is not the sort of dead beige that I'm trying to get rid of. I really like the silvery-ness of it and the sheen.

Thank Mr. Vix for me as well.

You're very welcome, April! I think you'll be pleased with the shade as long as it flatters.

I admit when I saw how well the coat went with the scarf I like to wear boho-style (as a headband, which you can't quite tell in "rainy shot") I had even more incentive to cut the tags. It's such a great way to deal with my hair on rainy weekends that anything that works with it jumps up a notch. Sad but true!

And yes, I will thank my photographer for understanding WHY I just had to stop and get a pic of the coat against driftwood for an invisible person....
