Need input on NAS Miss Sixty peacoat purchase

You know, I don't really love the color purple, and I'm phobic of double-breasted coats, but I love this jacket. I think it's the pleats on the back. Anyway, I came home with one last night and I need your thoughts.

Now for my pics (see below). First, does it look OK? Am I wearing the coat or is it wearing me? The pictures don't come close to doing it justice as the purple is very dark and my picture-taking is as usual, not very good. I'm busty and short-waisted so this is a stretch and I don't want to look too bulky. Not to mention, there's a lot going on: zippers, pleats, big buttons, epaulets...

Second, the Small that I bought fits perfectly except that the shoulders are a hair too narrow. The Medium was too big, though. I'd need to wear the Small with thin sweaters or shirts only.

It's all about how it feels. Have you tried to layer underneath it?

I looove that coat ( I am a huge fan of both purple and double-breasted) and love how it looks on you. I think it is great fitting, and the only question is really that of comfort and how you plan to wear it. If you would only with thinner layering pieces and already have something for colder weather, than I would definitely keep it.

I feel killer in it...which is why I'm not sure I care if I have a limited range of movement!

But you know, there are plenty of times I felt great and saw pics later and wondered what I was thinking. :O Glad to know it looks good to you too.

I've tried several winter pieces under it and it's no tighter than with the summer top I was wearing when I bought it. And it's fine as long as I don't lift my arms any higher than in the photo. The Medium definitely looked too bulky.

Let me start by saying that I am not a double-breast coat fan. But I LOVE this !!! It has a military feel in the from ( which I love ) and it is beyond fab in the back.

However, if you don't feel fabulous in it and it bugs you when you lift your arms - only you can decide if it really works. The great part is that you can wear it a few times and really determine if it is wearable and then return it if the answer is know.

You probably don't need a full range of motion anyway. Unless you plan to wear it while getting things down off of a high shelf! (-:

How does it feel when you reach your arms forward say for driving or reaching for things at the supermarket? I made the mistake of keeping a military jacket that I felt restricted my movement and I've worn it a grand total of once! Another much more suitable one hopped into my online M&S shopping basket on thursday x

Wowie Zowie! I luv it on you! I think it makes your torso look longer. Too bad they don't have petitie sizing and you could have tried a PM or PL. Hmmm...I really want you to keep it, but that restricted arm movement is making me hesitiate. I like Louise's suggestion of making sure you can do all the necessary things like driving, etc.

All the little details and the rich purple color is just wonderful!

Yowza! It looks amazing on you! Will you actually wear it if your range of motion is limited? If you can do normal stuff like Louise mentioned that's probably ok. It's not necessary to reach your arms over your head...like Angie said no jumping jacks..tee hee!

You look SO amazing, it pains me to say the following - I would return it because of the range of motion issues.

Personally, I engage in a wide variety of non-jumping jack activities on a daily basis that require far more range of motion than you demonstrate in the arm-raising picture. I would feel like I were wearing a strait-jacket. A FAB strait-jacket, mind you, but still.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't keep a piece that wasn't a good fit or an alteration candidate, but I do love it so. And I got DH to buy it for me as an early birthday gift

Your responses made me think about what I'd really be doing while wearing the coat. I don't have to keep up with children, DH does the grocery shopping, and I don't do jumping jacks. Actually, I have a horror of the gym.

I do need to drive my car, lift a fork to my mouth and hug DH with ease:) I think I'll go put the coat on and try some activities to see if it's comfortable. Then I'll have my answer.

Imagine me, in my new coat, shorts and flip-flops (only for around the backyard, thankyouverymuch), taking a turn around the neighborhood in my car in 103° heat. I'll make it fast, just in case I have to return the coat. And no WIW pictures!

It looks killer on you. I hope you wear it enough around the house before taking the tags off, to make sure the loss of full motion doesn't really bother you after awhile.

I got a little sidetracked this afternoon while having a minor Rosie moment (her car died, and now our refrigerator/freezer died with a Nordstrom haul's worth of groceries in it). Will try again tomorrow!

Beth, I also have a phobia of double-breasted anything (they don't work on my figure) but this coat looks divine on you. Hope you find that it's comfortable enough to keep!

This reminds me of a conversation I had a few years back on the same subject. I just got my red Michael Kors toggle coat and I loved it but was afraid it might be too big. I explained to a friend that "You can really only see it when I do this," while raising my arms the way you would if you were measuring your arm span. His response was simple: "um, well then don't do that."

I still have the coat.

It looks killer on you and unless you regularly flap your arms around as if to take flight, I don't anticipate any problems :p But surely try it on around the house to make sure.
