Hi --
I know we have some dress lovers here so thought I'd share some fit info about a few I tried (and 2 I saw on someone who loved the comfort/style).
I'm not a big NAS shopper and currently have most of my needs covered. However, I've been wanting to splurge/add a silk jersey dress to my synthetic ones so thought the DVF was worth a shot. It didn't work out (no shock, as a Rectangle faux-wraps and sarong style dresses are much better) but that left a little money to explore fall trends....
For reference:
- I'm 5'4
- fuller in the bosom
- straight-hipped with little junk in the trunk
I'll use "designer fit" to mean a size up from my usual size in stores like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Nordstrom Classiques + Trouve + Halogen, etc and "TTS" to mean usual size there.
#1 (Green, Bailey 44 Faux Leather Yoke dress -- comes in Charcoal/black yoke): As advertised, very body-conscious, but TTS. Material was a thin knit, felt flimsy to me. Length ~ knee. Very pretty framing of face with that neckline. Too fantasy-lifestyle for me but very cool. Luckily I tried in charcoal and luckily didn't see the deep green or might have wavered! http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/ba.....ry-persona
#2 ETA photo of me in it added further in thread (Deep Indigo, a purple'd blue, Cynthia Steffe Cap Sleeve w faux leather trim): Designer fit, would rec trying a size up from that if you have curvy hips or broader shoulders/very full bustline). Fell ~ 2 inches above the knee on me, ~ 3/4 to 1" to let down per Alterations. Gorgeous rich color, substantial knit with a thinner inner knit lining. Very flattering seaming, good for emphasizing or creating a waist. Came home with me, though I am having its neck altered into a V and it let down as much as possible.

#4-6 ETA photo of me in it added further in thread (Colorblock front, solid black on back -- Charcoal/black/soft white OR black/red, Vince Camuto): Designer fit. Fell ~ 1 inch above the knee on me, ~ 1.5" to let down per Alterations. Fairly substantial knit with a thin knit lining and very flattering placement of colorblocking; good for emphasizing or creating a waist. The more boring grey/black version came home with me as well.

#7 (Deep, slightly muted teal -- looks more blue than green IRL) Adrianna Papell Cap Sleeve dress). TTS or a bit big. Does come in Petite. Very lightweight, fully lined. I'd say it hit me right around the knee -- the size was too big so that affected the fit. Better for someone with hips to fill out the dress...it was sad on me. Interesting detail at the waistline. Ideal work dress if the color and fit flatter, easy to amp up for an occasion.

#8 (DVF New Jeanne 2 Python Two, silk jersey): Designer fit, muted blue, soft white, baby pink with a tiny bit of black. Washed me out in addition to looking pretty bad on my body type which I was prepared for -- the pattern is def not the best for ITs or Rectangles trying to look a little curvier...the other DVF wrap was better: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/di.....gin=relate). Colors seem best for cool-toned but muted blondes/greys/brunettes. It's here: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/di.....gin=relate

9/10 were on someone else in the dressing room. IIRC she was about 5'5/6 and the dresses fell ~ 1" above her knees. She loved the comfort of both -- said she didn't feel the need for shapewear. #10 is REALLY bright and strong in terms of colors, #9 more muted.
