My first WIW: a few of my favorite things

Here goes my first WIW. I'm so inspired by everyone's WIWs here, and want to join in. I am interested in getting a better idea of what I like to wear, what looks good on me, and new things to try that would also feel and look like me.

#1: Batik rayon dress (made by me, Textile Studio pattern), Comfy USA vest in black crinkle knit, Pikolinos wedge boots.
#2-3: Charcoal drop-back pointelle knit sweater (360 cashmere, NAS), boat-neck t-shirt in shadowy-print knit (made by me), Paige skyline straight leg jeans, Born Sosie boots.
#4-5: Same as 2-3, but with heather brown wool-blend long drapey sweater (Bryn Walker).

The charcoal sweater is my favorite this year--so cozy, comfy, and I love the shape. (I tried to take photos from the back and side, but something didn't work.) I also love the feel of the brown sweater, a recent sale purchase.

Loved #1, the color and style suited your shape and color so well!
Cannot really see the sweater in #2, I struggle with photo clarity too but the shaped looked very flattering
#3 is hard for me to comment on as it is so not my own style. I am trying not to color my comments with my prejudice! he he, bit maybe a bit big?

Great to see your WIW. Both the dress and the top are lovely pieces and you've achieved great "fit" with them. A couple of sewing questions: Where do you source your fabric? And are you on Team Muslins? I like the way you've teamed the soft blue floral with the charcoal cardi and I like the silhouette you've created with the flowing line of the cardi conrasted with sleek legs.

These are all really flattering looks on you. I love the way you've combined the rather 'sweet' printed tee with the tougher boots and jeans in #2-3. That sort of juxtaposition always makes an outfit a little more interesting I think.

@Lantana: I buy fabric from a couple of good local stores, Pacific Fabrics and Nancy's Sewing Basket. I also buy online, and I got the t-shirt fabric from EmmaOneSock.com. Other online sources for me are MarcyTilton.com and sewingworkshop.com. I like these because of their curation--I know who's choosing the fabrics and what they are after. As to muslins, I do not like using them, partly because I'm impatient, and partly because I often don't have great results even when I do go to the trouble. But I do them when I must, and I'm getting a little better at working with them. I tend to do test garments instead, especially since I do a lot of sewing with knits.
