Mo-vember Jacket Challenge Day 4: Rugby Ralph Lauren

After yesterday's car show fun, I still had to go into work for a short shift, so I styled up another jacket for my wear-them-all challenge.

I had bought this baby a while back - without the YLF forum's consent! Actually, I think most of you pretty much hated it... Paddington Bear... Gorton's Fisherman... well, all that still sounded pretty good to me. o_0

So, love it or hate it, here's my yellow jacket with huge lobster clasps. I actually really dig the oversized fit that is so different from my other jackets. Feels good with BF jeans! The part I wasn't 100% in love with was the brown collar, which looked weird with my hair down, but I think it will look much better once I cut my hair.

It is becoming apparent that it will be *really* hard for me to cull jackets - in many ways they are not just wardrobe items but a Collection unto themselves. The little details on them make them like art to me. I don't know if I can purge any significant amount just for the sake of purging.

In other news, I'm really enjoying these outdoors pics! Thank goodness my neighbors had this new wall built, so that I can set my camera where no camera could be set before!

I like the jacket! With your hair pulled back like this, the collar looks fine. When my hair was long, I had a problem with collars too. I felt like all the hair and a collar made some outfits feel too busy and messy.

Love the way you paired the oversized jacket with the oversized jeans - that's something I want to learn how to do. I think the jacket is a great addition to your collection. Great color and such a fun style - it just has your name all over it! Also, can't wait to see your haircut! When's it going to happen?

Even if you don't purge any of your jackets I still think this is a worthwhile exercise, you are showing us how jackets are part of your signature style & how much fun they can be, I love this look on you.

I totally know what you mean. Many of my skirts were being kept for their "emotional" value -- some were items I scored thrifting, others just "works of art" in my mind. It was like a curated collection that I admired and loved. Then one day I was just over it and out they've gone.

Ironically, I had the hardest time parting with the thrifted items, which were one of a kind and felt like windfalls. The retail items were easier to part with knowing I'd get some return from consignment.

I think this jacket is fab on you and you love it, so enjoy it. When it's time for things to go, you will know.

Rae, I love the outdoor setting! So much better for your shots. I hear you on not purging just for the sake of it. I am slowing down on being purge happy with things like jackets and shoes.
Marley, I am doing my own personal challenge this month to wear all my accessories I brought to FL with me. Rae and I think Una are doing a similar thing with their light jackets.

Rae: Love this jacket! A nice dose of color is welcome on rainy days.

I say keep the jackets that make you happy, even those in "light rotation," unless you're plainly running out of space.

This week, a mouse in my laundry room ate one of my stored jackets -- a tryolean number by Ann Taylor. Emerald boucle. Sigh. Of course, it was two sizes too small. Maybe the critter (now passed) was trying to teach me a valuable lesson!

Mo, good to hear you are slowing down. Purging is good, of course, but I can get carried away sometimes... like I start to feel like purging and having a small wardrobe is so "IN" right now that I shouldn't have so much stuff. Tricky to find the balance, I guess.
