Light Pants in a Dark Alley - YouLookFab Forum

Thought these pants would look more fun in a night shot than a living room shot.

One of my favorite outfits of the season so far, styled around a new pair of Charlie pants I picked up on sale at Anthro while DH were down in San Diego visiting friends. I also got a yellow tunic sweater that DH likes, but I think I'm going to return in (pic 2). I think I can do better.

Trying to figure out why I like this outfit better than some others... I think it's something about the simplicity of two pieces vs. three. I even resisted all my necklaces today. How about you - anyone feeling like less is more lately?

The other part might be the substantial fabric of these pants. The thin Gap skinnies I had on yesterday have got to go.

No fair, I need to see mor of those pants, they look amazing! In the picture #2 actually looks like an all in one hot pants ensemble... I quite like it.

Hahaha! Oh, no, now that sweater really has to go. Knit onesie is not what I'm going for. lol.

These are the pants - I got the military green color option. They didn't have the other colors in store when I went, but I might consider the beige ones, too. Or maybe this same style in a solid color. They are much longer on me than on the model.

Oh, now I really want to go find and try these pants now that I've read your review. I think the Charlie pants vary a lot depending on the fabric composition so it's good to know that these are substantial. Did you get regular or tall?

I got the 2R. I'm a 2 in BR sloans and in Bebe pants, but a 4/27 in most jeans.

I really love #1 Rae, simple and modern and stunning! I can see why those pants are your favorite. Are you fairly tall? I'd love to go try them but guessing they'd be way too short for me. You certainly look long and lithe in your photo! And that print! So elegant yet so fun and I can't wait to see all the ways you style them. I agree that they work so well on their own without a third piece and that adding more might upstage them somehow. But then again, maybe not. And except, of course, for that fabulous dream bag, which takes everything to a whole other level!

Shemarie, I'm only 5'4" - thank you for thinking I look long. They are ankle length on me, so they are probably closer to the Anthro pic on taller gals.

Thanks for the link Rae. They are stunning. I was looking at a similar pair in gold tones today but wasnt sure, now seeing how cool you look I think I will have to go try them on.

I was guessing you were +5'8" or more...you have the whole "lengthen-the-leg-line" thing down to a science! I'm 5'10" and will do slim cropped but have "capri-poison eye." Since I see I cross-posted with you and Diana, though, I'm off to see if they come in talls. Thanks!

Wow! I think the print and bag have enough pattern interest going that a third piece would almost be overkill.

I actually really like the sweater too. So good to know you have your wardrobe at that magical place where you can happily wait for better still.

The sweater is different and I like that about it. The more I click on it the more I like it. (And I too thought it was a romper from the thumbnail, which to me isn't a problem). How were you thinking of wearing it?

Love your outfit with the new Charlies, and I think you were wise to keep things simple as the pants and the bag deliver so much style.

Love the pants and the way you have styled it. And I TOTALLY envy your striped bag. It seems to go with everything and add subtle interest to every outfit!!!!! Love it!

I always like the juxtaposition of b/w stripes with b/w brocade. Throw some casmere into the mix and what more can a girl ask?
The yellow knit could be saved from onsie-dom by a slip. It is such a pretty colour and texture.

The richness of those brocade pants means you don't need other stuff to compete - looks fab! The yellow sweater is very pretty - you don't strike me as someone who has "pretty" is their style descriptor?

Those Charlie trousers are fantabulous! I think because they are a fairly strong piece in terms of visual interest, keeping the rest of the outfit simple is perfectly complimentary.

The yellow tunic is actually quite lovely but I'm not sure I'm feeling it for your style?

Those pants are fabulous! Can't wait to see them in the light. They're strong so keeping the rest of the outfit simple is the right thing to do.

The yellow tunic feels...mmm, neither here nor there somehow. For me it is something about the neckline/ sleeve area combined with the heavy texture.

Great pants! The sweater looks like that type of open weave that tends to g-r-o-w as the day goes on. Nice color, though.
