K/R; My new RATE boot; Cast style concluded

This concludes my Cast Style series (I'm sure you are as relieved as me) and I'm moving on to Boot style. This is my new Achilles boot. It is fitted with three stacked heel lifts that are removed one by one over the course of the next month. In order to compensate for the added height, I have to wear a heeled shoe on the my good foot. Some people buy special lifts that are fitted onto their shoes but I'm planning on just wearing some of my stable higher heeled shoes. The boot is pretty hideous but it is much more tolerable than the cast which I was utterly sick of seeing and lugging around. I should be able to ditch the crutches in no time at all--yay! Sick of those too.

The K/R is for the VC bomber and Mural floral moto. The sleeves on the bomber seem a bit short but I think they are passable--do you agree? I ordered the small and it seems plenty roomy. The last photo is the Leith denim vest (again)--I love that thing! The Mural is a medium and fits perfectly (thanks, Angie!) Both are excellent quality and I wouldn't hesitate to keep both if they get thumbs up.

The last few pics are Cast Style. While not very exciting, I have to say that getting dressed every day kept my spirits up. I'm thinking I need to pass on the yellow skirt.

Oh, wow, Kelly, time has really flown, hasn't it? Although to you, who actually had to drag that cast around, every minute probably felt like an hour. Triple cheers for continued speedy and complete recovery! Your cast style was really fabulous. I especially like outfits 1, 3, and 4 in photo 3.

I love the Mural moto on you! I'm less keen on the bomber, but it's mostly my own poison eye for stiff-looking varsity-type jackets and not the bomber itself. It definitely looks more pleasing to my eye with the sleeves scrunched.

Congratulations to the proud graduate! No wonder you prefer the boot.

You manage to look fantastic, whatever the impediments.

As for the jackets, it's a really tough call! They both look terrific on you. If you can keep both and think they will be versatile for you, go for it! I do think the bomber fits well and I wouldn't worry about the sleeve length - you will probably scrunch them often anyway.

I am always so happy to see your casual style, oh inspiration, you! (But I do not what to be inspired to ruin my Achillies, no sir.)

On to the next step with your recovery (pardon the pun!). You will find the boot sooooo much more comfortable I'm sure. And now you get to wear heels instead of flats

Wow Kelly these both look so great - if you can keep both think I'd be tempted. I love all your casual outfits - esp. love that striped drape neck top with those dark shorts in the last set. And look at your progress -- and your SMILE through a very challenging recovery time. You are inspiring!

Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate it. This has been one of the most trying experiences for me to date. I’m so glad to be moving forward--four weeks in a cast is about my limit. I was close to cutting it off by myself--except that I’m a chronic rule follower and would be mortified if the doctor got mad at me.

@DeclawedJaguar: Lol--I wouldn’t say time has “flown” exactly. There were lots of trying days that seemed like they would never end. IKWYM about the bomber but this one is not stiff at all. It’s a beautiful fabrication. Thanks for your honesty.

@Suz: Thank you! I think the bomber is probably more versatile but I love the look of the moto. It is so fun. Hopefully it will detract attention from the ugly boot Glad that I can be a casual inspiration even on one leg.

@pil: You crack me up. Davey likes it except when I rip the velcro to unstrap it. That gives him cardiac arrest. He seems to have accepted the leg immobilizers and the crutches. He hasn’t had a good brush in a month and he’s shedding like crazy every time he nestles up against me. Kind of makes me wish he was still scared of the leg. Glad you like the floral moto too. It’s so fun. Something I wouldn’t have given a second look if Angie hadn’t brought it to my attention. I love it. The green leather moto is still in my cart--I like that one a lot too but I thought it was more of a fall jacket for me because of the leather. These other two are perfect for the current weather. Btw, I think you have your style down, pil. Your WIW’s are awesome. You have great style!
