K/R: Angie approved Zara Jacq. blazer ETA: new pics w/ shorter sleeves

This refreshing blazer looked so amazing in the online pic, but I'm not sure when I see it on me. Does it look a bit large for my frame? I can't size down because then I can't move my arms properly. This is size L. I obviously have to shorten the sleeves.

I added mirror photos by myself + DS1's photos (the blurred ones #2, #4-5, because he was in a hurry ;-))

ETA: #6-8 shorter sleeves - still too large ;-/

I tried size M at Zara's and found it too small around the upper arms, so I'll return the blazer tomorrow. I'll try size M again, but if I can't move properly I'll just have to let it pass. *sigh*

I think it is the sleeves making it look big. Can you pin/fold them up to give an idea? How do the shoulders fit? They look great in #1 but I can't tell from the back shot.

Looks good from the front but the shoulders do look like they might be slightly too wide/deep in the back. Have you tried the leaning against the wall test? Basically, if you lean sideways against a wall, the shoulder of the blazer and your shoulder should hit at the same time, unless it's seriously strong shouldered and meant to stick out (which this one is not). I learned it from this post, which has lots of good tips:

It does look too big to me, especially in #5 - too bad because it's a great jacket, and a fabulous color on you.

I think the sleeves are throwing me off a lot. Could you roll and scrunch them so they don't look long? They're affecting the way I perceive the rest of the fit (which looks pretty decent except the back shot).

It's definitely too roomy across the back width of the shoulder blade area. And I'm wondering about across the very top of the sleeve cap.

Harmonica, I have this jacket myself, and looking at your pics, I think the Large is too big overall on you. You say you can't size down because of the arms, but sometimes when a jacket is too big, the shoulder line droops and it makes you feel constricted in the arms. In a smaller size, you might find the shoulder line lifted in the proper place will magically resolve that feeling of constriction around the arms. Did you try a medium? If not, it might be worth it to do so. It's a beautiful jacket and a really lovely color on you. However, I don't think that it's worth altering the Large to fit at that price point, unless it's only something simple, like hemming the sleeves.

I vote size down. The sleeves will still be too long, but you can scrunch them or have them tailored.

Oh my goodness, the colour is amazing on you. I WISH Zara shipped to Canada because I would buy this in a heartbeat.

To pile on, yes it looks too big across the shoulders. I would try a size down, and Kate is spot-on with her observation in my experience.

I vote a size down as well.

I tried M and I think it looked better, but I couldn't move my arms properly - difficult to lift arm up - because it felt too tight in the overarms and maybe across the upper part of the back.

I'll return it tomorrow and try M again. If I still feel constricted I will have to pass.

PS No feeling of constriction in size L, but too large across shoulders and maybe also in front
