Joy - I saw your photos on the leggings thread when I posted my own there a little while ago. Had you adopted this look on your own, or were you inspired -- nudged, prodded, peer-pressured -- by the massive leggings vibe currently going on at YLF?

It hardly matters since you clearly have it down! In my view, we're all looking for someone in the age bracket we'll be coming into soon, to show us how things can be done at an age we don't yet know about. At 45, I'm very interested in how women at this time of life and ahead are remaining vibrant and visible -- much more so than in the fashion hijinks of the super young (as much fun as they are to look at!) So wonderful to have you leading the way -- thanks for posting.

My head is reeling from so many compliments! I would never have tried leggings if it hadn't been for Angie's nudging us and all the great photos of forum members sporting them with so much style. Thank you, Angie! Because of this site I have more confidence in purchasing and wearing looks new to me.

I'm glad my hair is YLF approved. As we once discussed in a thread about going grey, I go through times when I think maybe I should color it. It's also been about the same style for years, but it works for me.

You have given me a huge boost of self confidence with your approval. I'll try to take and post more pictures to get more of my outfits critiqued by such a stylish group.

Joy, I just looked at you link again and realized that there was a second dress on there. You look stunning in that, also. I think you rock the leggings look!

In your original thread you mentioned that someone at a meeting made a snarky comment about the look. DO NOT listen to that person! You blow me away with your style and the gals at YLF would not steer you wrong. You look so elegant.

I live in a very conservative city but I visit my daughter in NYC often. I have seen women of all ages sporting the leggings look there for the past three years. I'll be visiting her again this week and she's going to help me try and put together my very first leggings look. I am especially going to be on the lookout for women over age 50 sporting the look.

Thank you all! I felt that I looked good and then wondered after the one woman's comments, but everyone else was positive. The snarky comments were made by a speaker visiting from the East coast and a sharp dresser, but she was probably exhausted from her speaking schedule and also was probably concerned that teachers dress appropriately. She has only seen me a few times. Angie, I didn't say enough about how much your surprise and kind words meant. I'm overwhelmed at being compared to those elegant older French women. Leggings are so comfortable and I'm reassured that I can wear them.
The second outfit is one I would especially consider wearing on a trip because the black sleeveless dress is a great travel piece that I often layer with other pieces for different looks. I tossed on the white cardi to keep it from being too much black. I haven't actually worn it out yet.
