PICS ADDED! It must be leather jacket day! How should they fit new?

EATA: Just tried it on over some long sleeves, and now I'm convinced that this is the correct size - The shoulder/arm fit is snug as is; I would not be able to move my arms at all in a size smaller. So now it's a straight-up K/R as-is.

ETA: The pictures are here! Please let me know what you think. It is snug in the bust without being tight, and the lining is rayon. I would want to wear as a blazer, not as outerwear. I would have to pay for return shipping and buy again at the non sale price to get the XXS.

The steampunk jacket I ordered arrived today - it's gorgeous and well worth the money. Way better than the photo. Buttery, buttery soft matte leahter with some subtle distressing. I will upload pics as soon as possible.

The one thing I worry about is that my previous leather jackets have been secondhand, and not *nearly* as soft as this one. It fits me perfectly in the bust as it is, the shoulder are a smidge wider than I usually wear, but still flatter because of epaulet placement. It is not tight at all.

With a fitted jacket in such a soft fabrication, do you think I should go down a size so that it stretches out? Or should I keep the one that fits now?

If it's lined, I would not size down, because it will hold its shape. I WANT PICTURES!

If fully lined, it won't stretch much, if at all as the lining holds the shape of the jacket. It looks like a beauty! Can hardly wait to see the pictures!

Rae, personally, I would definitely take it down a size, although I guess it depends how you want to wear it. In Paris, in the winter, we often wear a biker jacket as a kind of leather sweater, over a sexy bra, but under a winter coat. We leave it unzipped just low enough for it to hint at the cleavage, but no more. Suggestion is far more sensual than revealing all, and talking about sensual, there is nothing quite like wearing fine, soft leather in this way. It's a delicious feeling. If you want to be able to wear yours in this typically French way, you'll probably need it to be fairly body-hugging. Loose enough to throw nonchalantly over a LBD on a summer evening when the sun goes down, but not so loose it can't be worn under a coat. So glad you're pleased with your purchase!

The thing you need to remember is that leather only stretches where it is stressed. So if it fits well, it won't stretch nearly as much as one that was snug. And as for the lining, it depends on what kind it is. A lightweight nylon lining isn't going to hold much of anything as far as shape goes. It really comes down to how you want to wear it. Would you want to be able to wear a sweater under the jacket? Does that fit now? If you want to be able to layer and it is snug with a sweater or whatever you want to wear under it, then I'd stick with what you have. If you want it to be permanently snug and body-con, then size down.

I just found out that Overstock does not do exchanges *at all* so I would have to return this one and buy another one without any of the original coupon codes being applied. Grrr... I was okay with paying for return shipping, but I'm really surprised that they would not honor their promotions on a size exchange. Hoping this size works, then... I should be home to post pics in about an hour.

Both of my leather jackets fit like this in the body and they have both kept their shape. (They are both lined).

Whoa!! heat wave!! Hot, hot, hot!! That is a must have jacket. Don't limit it to wearing like a blazer, show it off to its full glory.

Let me put it in baseball terms, a grand slam bases loaded home run.

And, to put the fox amongst the chickens, I'm thinking some matching boots, definitely knee high, about a 3 1/2 to 4 inch heel, maybe lace ups like the Frye Julias, and definitely jeans. Skinny for the UWP and boot cut for the less wild look.

I think I've just talked myself into that jacket and boots. Better hurry, Rae.

I think the fit is absolutely perfect and wouldn't change it. The colour is rich and luxe, the style definitely YOU and it looks AMAZING with the dress and booties. If this will keep its shape due to the lining as mentioned above, then this is a good size for how you want to wear it. If it will actually stretch a lot as mentioned above, then the smaller size would probably be better. No help there, but good lord that looks amazing as-is IF it'll stay this way!!!

La Francaise, this is a very interesting way of wearing a leather jacket - French way indeed. I have two leather jackets which fit pretty close so I may try to wear them French way...if I dare...
