I was going through my year of photos from 2011, and it turns out I am the biggest copycat on the planet! Not only that, I am completely unrepentant! Big, big, BIG fun! Many thanks to all who gave me such fab ideas, and my apologies to those I left out!!

Here's to a copytastic 2012, having fun with fashion!!

MaryK you totally ROCK! This was so fun to see all together. You certainly have a trove of scarves and copy down to the accessories, but still manage to keep it very you!

MaryK, please tell me your thinking process when copying another's style.

Do you see something on someone that you like and then buy the pieces to put it together, even if you're not sure that it will work for you? B/c sometimes I see someone wearing something I love, but don't know if it will look good on me? Or do you just know from experience what will work for you?

Denise, almost all of these are totally put together from things I already had. I did buy the scarf for #29, which OMG I cannot believe I forgot to post it because it is totally my fave! So everybody go back and look! LOL

I also bought the fab Urban Warrior Princess sweater in #25 after seeing Una rock it so hard. And #9 is a DKNY ad I tore out of a magazine at the hair salon and assembled the pieces from discount stores and thrift stores (and the pink jacket from the YLF swap -- hi, Marley!) just for fun. That one gave rise to a narrow escape from the Age Appropriateness Police, I think! LOL

Other than that, I see something I like on somebody, and I go "Hmm... I could do that." Or just as often, I go "I wonder how I could wear cobalt and red together," and I go looking for something to copy. That's how #10 happened, for example -- I did a Google Image search for "green jeans" and found that fab photo of Fergie.

Oh, and I did do the bleached jeans after seeing Nicole do her version of the fab Dries van Noten runway look. But I already had both tops.

Thank you, Mary for the insight. I haven't considered "googling" a clothing item for ideas to style. One thing I might try this new year: cut pictures from mailings, catalogs, mags, etc. that appeal to me, so I can remember all the little details.
