Ladies, I came to you several months ago asking about a silk blouse that I adored. The consensus was that the Lara blouse just didn't hang right on me -- especially around the sleeves and back. Well, I was pretty bummed, but I took the blouse in for a return. On the drive in, I shared my disappointment to my husband, who replied with something along the lines of "I honestly don't understand why you posted that picture; your pose was utterly ridiculous. Were you sticking your chest and butt out while slouching? The blouse doesn't hang that way at all."
And from his comments a terrible hope was born.
After he dropped me off, I marched right up to the S.A. To my surprise, the words that came out of my mouth weren't "I'd like to return this, please" but rather "I'd like to consult with a tailor about this blouse." Not 15 minutes later I scuttled out of the store blouse-free ... but with the tailoring receipt burning a hole in my pocket and a furtive prayer that no YLFers had seen me.
When Lara and I first got together, a few weeks later, I was a bit shy; we started with a few furtive outings, discreetly tucked under some sweaters (photos #1 & #2). As time went by and the weather warmed up, we became more bold; she came alone on date night, and eventually I even took her to work with me on one of my "dressy" days (photos #3 & #4).
Finally, there came a time when everybody knew about me and Lara, except you, my dear YLF friends.
So now, here we are. Outed. Do I have regrets? Well, yes, but not about the cheating (she said defiantly). Every time I wear this blouse, I do a little dance: it's gorgeous, it feels amazing on my skin, and somehow I just feel more special when I wear it. It fits seamlessly into my existing wardrobe and my style goals. I do regret the white silk just the teeniest tiniest bit (it's more high maintenance than I expected, but nowhere near what I feared). I also regret not coming to YLF earlier for styling advice and suggestions.
Overall, though, I've been thrilled to pieces. There are other purchases that I use more, but this blouse is easily tied with my tan ballet shoes for "favourite 2012 item" (cameo in #3 & #4).
