Vani, I say you are 100%

AG, I wouldn't describe your style as eclectic - or perhaps you haven't posted enough outfits! Which means that you need to grace this forum with more of your style.

Carole, you're spot on too - minus the boho bit.

I know this probably doesn't exist as a true style, but I would describe my overarching persona currently as being MOTG. I find it very useful to use Angie's prescribed forumulas for dressing to help me ensure that my outfit is relatively flop-proof.

I will be fascinated to see how my style continues to evolve over the next twelve months. I hope you'll ask this question again toward the end of 2011!

Angie, here is my guess for your style (hmmmm, it almost reads like a cocktail or a song title.....) "Ultra Modern Classic with a Slight Twist of Edge". I can't wait to see how close I am to your own vision of yourself!

I consider myself classic with a twist, and I am happy to be in such diverse and great company here.

Oh, Angie!! I like that diagnosis.!!
How lucky we are to have You .....who actually does this for a living.... personally describe our style....that is likely quite costly on the open market:):)

Kyle, I like classic with a twist on you:)

Maybe Kim is a Gemini like me hence the schizophrenic & confused comments from us

I know that my style is influenced by past decades; in college I heavily wore vintage '40s, '50's and some '60s styles. Nowadays I'd say my style is a mix of vintage sensibility and modern trend interpretations.

[Renata, based on what I've seen your husband's "FLAT" mystifies me! I would never use that word to describe your style. Maybe he meant, hmmmmm..."streamlined" or "sleek" and flat was as close as he could get?!]

Creative. Artsy. Risky. Overwhelmingly smart casual. Not At All Corporate ;-P

Lately I've been feeling frumpy and dissatisfied with my style. I may dress too old for my age. But in general, I'd say I'm a pretty true definition of a modern classic, although I stay on the conservative/safe side (unfortunately). I dress in a very classic way, but I like modern accessories/touches.

My work style is different than my weekend style. Is that a no-no? I don't know... I love to have fun with clothes but would like my clothes to be at the background at work.

My work style: Modest and conservative with an edge. I use my shoes to bring in my personality.

My weekend style: Funky, urban and trendy.

I asked my husband and he said elegant, smart and economical.

Hmmm..I definitely know I'm not preppy, but I'm not sure that I fall in just one of the usual style categories, so how about this instead:
Playful, ladylike casual accessorized to add a bit of subtle depth and interest.
(Why am I suddenly feeling shy to write that?!)

Renata - Your style is certainly NOT flat. I like that you and Jean know exactly what colors and shapes flatter the most. Thus you can get creative with the styling.

I am thinking...casual-luxe? Urban-chic? I like sophisticated clothes but lately can't seem to get dressed without reaching for something slouchy or distressed (or preferably both). Couldn't call myself trendy OR conservative.

Renata--you must ask him, what on earth did he mean? You have gorgeous style.

Gosh, I always used to struggle with this question. Until recently I felt like my style identity was nebulous and verging on boring, but lately I feel like it's *starting* to come together a bit more.

How about this: A modern classic struggling to add a touch of spice.

or... often aims to dress like a modern-day Joan Holloway, but ends up a bit more Lucy Ricardo.

Hmm, this is tough. I know what I'm not but uh... I am a terrible judge of my own appearance to others. I'd say fun, maybe a little boho with a rocker edge. Also messy and undirected, often practical by necessity.

I often buy pieces that appeal to me but don't buy outfits which means I end up with lots of 'one offs' that I just have to make work together.Because I have limited funds I don't like to spend money on things I don't love. And then I don't want to wear things I love to work which gives me about one day per week to actually wear them. :-/

I haven't been posting WIWs because I just don't feel up to par. Plus there's the time factor.

I love these answers! I'm still "finding" myself. Sometimes I feel like a snake shedding its skin - I seem to go through a change every few years. Classic with an edge? Eclectic?

I aspire to elegance but as a MOTG this can be hit or miss so I'm going for feminine, vintage and trendy ....but I'm not at all offended by that word.

I have really loved reading this post!

Must log off now and get ready for work

hum.. this is a difficult question, I would say european classic chic, I love black from head to toe with structured cuts and clean lines (after all it's a working wardrobe), although right now I had incorporated a lot of flowly boho dresses with no shape, earth tones and faux fur vests.

I always struggle with this sort of thing but I'll have a go.
I guess daring as I'm willing to give most things a go, I like variety, what's a style description for that? I like mixing opposing styles, biker boots with a dress etc? I'm struggling for describing words here!! x

Its hard to see yourself as others see you. I had a close friend and housemate who told me I had a very bohemian style which is probably how I dress in the weekend -jeans and my leather jacket or indian style tunics. When i looked at the lucky guide to iconic style, all my clothes fitted into californian classic and bohemian for the weekend and my work clothes are more american classic. I would wear jeans and nothing else if I thought I could get away with it.

Gosh, I would have to look up what I was last time, but I think I have evolved some since then. Now I would say my style is modern classic with a colorful/creative bent.

Grown-up tomboy?

This winter I discovered that I can wear some quite sweet cardis and dresses, and it's a lot of fun. But I don't really feel a zing until I'm in jeans, boots and a leather jacket. So I'm trying to graduate from jeans/tees/sneakers combo to a more sophisticated version of those things.

Angie, I know you said you would answer about your own style later, but will you at least tell us what Greg and your other informants said?

Eclectic, artistic, urban, chic, boho, earthy.
When dressed up= sometimes romantic or retro thrown in the mix.
Many adjectives going on.

Playful, young, fun and colourful with some retro twists!

One of my friends describes my style as "sexy-cute". I think that's a pretty good description. I'm pretty casual in my style. I prefer clean lines and shapes that bring out the best of my figure without being overtly sexy. I like looking like a woman without looking super girly, if that makes sense. . .so no ruffles or lace for me. My femininity is displayed by the shape of my body. I also gravitate toward younger styles and rarely reach toward conservatively cut clothes.

Renata - your husband's comment makes me chuckle - flat? I'm almost afraid to ask my husband for input as all his adjectives would undoubtedly be car-based: sleek, shiny, sporty, whatever . . . or reliable? rusty? :-0

I figure I am really a practical, refined boho.

But I'd like to be: modern, much more euro, casually elegant.

I'm aiming for effortlessly polished California casual...
I think in reality I fall mostly into modern classic. I have a hard time with that... it's like admitting defeat. It's like I'm saying I can't be arty or funky or fun so I'll settle for safe modern classic...... and adding the touch of funky when I can manage to get away with it.

Now I must take my modern classic bod to the shower and get it ready for today's modern classic outfit.

Wow, people really don't want to be modern classic! I'm starting to feel bad!

Is modern classic/preppy really a fashion cop-out?

I am modern classic striving (and hopefully evolving!) towards edgy and trendy urbanite.
