Joy raises good points that mirror my experience with just short-term trips to SoCal in winter.
I think this is one of those plan as much as possible but be prepared to change. To slightly answer your question, I'd shift color palette and fabric weight if I wanted a seasonal change. Sounds like a great opportunity for your friend; hope she enjoys the new experiences.
