5'6", although IRL most people assume I'm quite a bit taller.

In meet up photos, it was Claire that surprised me -- I'll always saw her as petite but, despite her slight frame, she's quite tall.

Tanya, you always look tall and perfectly proportioned to me, so you obviously know what you're doing.

Beth Ann, I thought you were taller too!

I've always considered myself short, but never really wished for extra inches, either. My frame of reference, family wise: mother 5' 10", aunt 6' 1", her daughter (my cousin) 6', Gma 6'. And that's just the ladies! All men but my own dad (5' 11") clock in over 6' 2" and 6' 3". It's all relative, get it? HA

Haha. I'm super short. 5'1", with average proportions (neither short nor long-legged or -waisted). I like being petite, but would have preferred to be at the taller end of the petite spectrum -- maybe 5'3" or 5'4". Those few extra inches would make finding clothes that fit a LOT easier.

I'm 5'2". I almost always need a petite in tops and jackets but can either go way on bottoms. Usually I need to go with a regular size and have them taken up just a touch.

5'8" and shrinking--I used to be close to an inch taller. More of my weight in settling into the middle regions.

Shortish legs, so I wear regular pants and sometimes have them hemmed shorter. When I was a skinny kid it was always hard to get sleeves and hems long enough.

5'1.5" I wear petites in just about everything, although with dresses and skirts I can often wear regular, as the lengths are really short sometimes.

Not at meet up. I'm 5"8.5". I have a long rise and my legs are proportionally short for my height, but my inseam is 33", so they aren't that short. My arms are long and I have the hardest time finding tops and jackets with long sleeves.

Also not at the meetup (alas!), and generally not in photos online, due to both privacy concerns and technical issues...

Like Echo, I can be generously called 5'3"--even measured that at my last doctor's appointment--but I call myself 5'2". Short-waisted but long in the rise, so I usually get regular rather than petite pants. I sit in the middle between petite and regular, and have often realized after the fact that some favorite garment is either sloppy looking (regular size) or too short in the arms/legs (petite)--so I go back and forth about which type of size to buy.

So interesting that several familiar forum members who seem tall in photos are not actually so very tall, but their proportions make them seem vertical (if that's the right term)!

5' 4"1/2" and holding. On the cusp of petite and with my short limbs I sometimes wear petite clothing. People sometimes think I am taller due to my long torso. Tall sitting down I guess!

Between 5'3 and 5'4.

I'm 1.82m tall, or just under 6ft. Because I have short waist, I could in theory get away with some regular sized tops, unless I need long sleeves - then I do need the right proportions from the Tall ranges, especially because I have narrow shoulders which means my arms are long. At 37-38 inch inseam the bottoms and especially the staple - jeans - are a nightmare to find, even in Tall ranges.

Seeing it written like this... long, narrow, tall... without even mentioning the requirements from the body type itself, it's easy to see why shopping can be tiresome and time consuming.

Btw, for those who are more used to metric system, here is the conversion chart

4ft10” = 1.47 m

5ft =1.52 m

5ft1”=1.55m

5ft2”=1.57m

5ft3”=1.60m

5ft4”= 1.62m

5ft8”=1.72m

5ft9”=1.75m

5ft10”=1.78m

5ft11”=1.80m

I'm 5'8.5 or 5'9" tall with long arms and legs...As an adult I have learned to love my height and wouldn't change it...That said, I had some pretty traumatic times as a young teen with all of this height...smile...

I'm 5ft 6. Regular length torso and legs. Long arms. Long neck. Small feet. Small boned. Narrow shoulder line.

I'm 5"4 and have a long torso and short legs.

I'm 5'2". I have relatively longish legs for my height -- petite pants are often too short as I like to wear my pants long. But my arms are super short so often the sleeves on even petite shirts and jackets need to be shortened. (That's why I love bracelet-length sleeves!) And I am short-waisted so petite tops and dresses fit me better in the torso.

I'm 5'3" (1.6 m), so on the 'tall side' of petite. That being said, I usually can't wear petite clothes. I'm short waisted, with a long rise, and proportionate legs (29/30" inseam). I end up taking regular trousers for the rise length, and look for short, but otherwise just hem them.

I can sometimes wear petite tops--I've got short arms, so sleeves are always too long on me. But I've got sizeable upper arms, so petites can sometimes be a bit too narrow for me.

In many ways, I feel like I've got the best of both worlds--if I find something that I like and isn't working for me in the dressing room, I can head to the petite department and see if they have something over there that suits better, so more options for me!

I'm just a hair under 5'8" with long legs and a slightly short waist. I do best with a long length in pants, since I'm right at that in-between height where regular lengths are often too short and tall sizes are too big all over.

I have shrunk from 5'7 and three quarters to 5'7" (1.70m).
It was really neat to see everyone in real life at the meet-up. It wasn't just a height thing, either, but seeing people in 3D and the scale of their frames was so interesting. Add to that their voices and their gait and the real picture emerged. The first even I made it to was the breakfast on Saturday, and I was so awestruck just taking everything in. It was really mind-blowing to get to meet Angie, Inge and everyone IRL!

ETA I take a regular inseam, but I have a super-long body so my legs are short in comparison. I just saw a picture of me from the back on Natalie(Goldenpig's) thread, and boy did it drive that point home! Sitting at a table next to others, I might appear much taller than I actually am (unless I'm slouching--oops!).

5'4.5", so I buy regular trousers to hem and vary in petite/regular tops (if the retailer cuts generously in length & width, I'm better off with petite).

5'4" - longish legs, shortish torso and waist (scoliosis will do that to you)

5"3 and short waisted here... I'd love another inch or two. I'm alway amazed by how many shorties like me there - I always expect people to tower above me.

5'1" with a long torso, which can be hard to pull off. I have to work hard to keep my legs from looking really short... which they are. LOL I usually need petite sizes for tops and jackets because of my short arms.

I wasn't able to get to this weekend's meet up in Seattle, but I've met one of Angie's clients at another of the meet ups. We noticed that while she's one inch taller than me, we have totally different proportions. She has a short torso and LONG limbs for her height. We compared arms and hers were 3-4 inches longer! So height only tells a small part of the story. At 5'1" I have to have petite jackets, while at 5'2" she couldn't wear petites or her sleeves would be too short.

My three oldest boys are taller than me... 5'7", 5'8.5", and 5'2" respectively. I assure all my guys that they will all at least be taller than me.

5'4", long torso and neck, short legs.

Wikipedia says that the average height of all women in the US (all races and ages over 20) is 5'4", by the way. I grew up thinking of myself as very short, but that was because I didn't grow til much later than my classmates. I was the smallest and youngest all along.

So interesting how many forum members are either taller or shorter than I envisioned. I'm 5'6" and have a long torso.

I'm 5 feet 6.5 with a long torso, long arms, longish neck and average length legs.

I am 5'4". I normally take a regular or ankle length inseam. I have longish legs for my body but they are full, so they don't look as long as they are. My issue is my arms! I am like flipper when I go to ATMS and stuff, always struggling to reach and almost always finding jacket arm lengths a bit too long for me. Frustratingly, because I am often a 14 and usually the petite sizes stop at 12 or Large, so I get stuck with long sleeves that sometimes cannot be altered. No fair! Some of us are petite in length if not width! My torso is pretty short and pretty darn full of boobage! And I am realzing my profile pic looks like a head on shoulders. I do have a neck! Really, I do!

I find it fascinating how some women near my height have so much longer legs! I'm 5'7" and have a 30" inseam--I am really ALL torso (plus a long neck). When seated, I probably look like I'm 5'10" or taller as I know I am 1/2 head taller than my husband (who is 5'9" but he is all legs and has no torso). We can't sit for any our family portraits because I tower over him (unless I slouch as much as possible, which then looks terrible).

Funny story: when I did a bone density research study many years ago (they paid me $100!), the researchers told me that I had the longest torso measurement of any of their subjects! I thought it was hilarious since I'm only 5'7" standing.
