Holiday Edition: Skinnies and Sweater

Since I am not going to be here during the holiday season and because I might have practically zero accessibility to internet at my destination, I thought I would do my holiday outfits in advance and get some feedback over them. And thank god I did that! I just realized this planned holiday outfit of mine has bombed!

We have loads of dinners and lunches around the holiday time with family and extended family. I would have thought this was a great casual dinner outfit.
But I see that the sweater doesn't look *that* festive. The green jegging seems to wrinkle at the wrong places. I have a lighter green pant that I could possibly replace it with. I added my sparkly high heeled silver sandals to the mix (forgive my chipped nail paint! A pedicure is in order!). And dangling silver earrings (Is that too much?). A sparkly clutch would be perfect but with kids it is going to be impossible So my big white tote would be my arm candy. What do you think of this outfit? Does it look festive?

It looks festive to me but it depends on the event. This will be perfect for a festive dinner (but not for a formal event). The white clutch bothers me. A nice clutch (does not need to be expensive) would make this outfit perfect.

Rute, I already have a similar one albeit a bit longer. It would be perfect for the outfit but it isn't practical since I would have to lug around nappies and a change of clothes for both my DSs (they always seem to dirty their clothes when I don't carry extras o_O)! I wish I had a silver tote

Neel - I don'tthink you could "bomb" an outfit if you tried!! I think you look very pretty. But I think what you may feel is missing is tension in the outfit. The gray (at least in the picture) reads to be a similiar value to the pants. I like all the elements very much, but if you want more drama, do you have a black sweater? That would pop the green in the pants and the silver of your accessories. If you have black with sparkle for a top even better. Or the converse, swap out the pants for black and poof drama. I do think a sparkly clutch would be beautiful but if you are doing the family thing will any bag get put down for the duration? Sometimes, in casual situations, where you ditch the accessories, it may not be worth the bother. Although you could slip a smaller bag into your tote if you wanted to. Practical but versatile. But no matter what you choose, you look lovely. Hope you have marvelous holidays!!

The only skinny black pant I have is cotton and also slouchy and might not work that well. I do have a black faux leather panel pencil skirt though. I could probably try that. Do you think white jeans would also look good? It's always good to have some extra coverage back home for modesty and for the mosquitoes! I wish I could try some now, but I am caught up with some work and won't be able to post pics until tomorrow morning. Argh!

Neel - I think it's time to play. The "just try it on rule" I also have this problem it's a great idea but the actual garment sometimes does not have the perfect proportions. You need to pull it all out and try because sometimes things will surprise you. I defintely think the skirts could be perfect and white too. Hope you post pics, looking forward to seeing what you like!! Good luck. Try not to get frustrated. You will find the perfect outfit!!

I like the outfit. It's fabulous. Roll up the trousers a little more and add a clutch. No tote. You are set. Plenty casual festive and I vote keep the earrings.

I think it looks great. I love the gray and silver with the teal.

A thumbs up from Angie always counts I think I need to work around the clutch issue! I might replace my jeggings with my green jeans and post a few more renditions of the outfit tomorrow with different bottoms.

Catnip - The jeggings look teal but it is a proper christmas green IRL! My crazy cam always does that!

Very pretty and chic! I like the trousers as-is. The pants seem more festive and dressy than jeans IMO. Can the kiddos carry their own supplies in a little backpack or such?

Now that's an idea Rae! I could do that!!! Why didn't I think of that?! o_O

This is a great little outfit I really like your colour combination here and think this is perfect for a casual dinner. Just add a nice little clutch and you are ready to go
