A modern '40s vibe. Looks elegant to my eye. And quite the breath of fresh air.

Hard to pull of though. Wider trousers with flats. You have to wear a tucked top to elongate the leg line. I'd wear the trousers with pointy toe slipper flats, and probably an inch longer in length - because you know - I'm Queen Pedantic About Lengths. Blogger wears the look with panache, and wanted to share. Thanks for the link Inge and Lisa.

Angie: would a faux tuck work? I have a pair of eileen fisher wide leg pants that just arrived. I was thinking of pointy flats but did not realize that it was a hard look to pull off. I was going to try volume on volume but maybe I need to rethink it?

Love the look ont he blogger a lot. But, sadly, I don't much like the look of tucked tops on me. Still, I can enjoy it on others.

Oh, I think I could pull off something similar... where, oh where will I find menswear trousers (with a bit less drop crotch) at my price point? The colors and soft feel of the outfit are beautiful. I wish the skinnies epidemic would slow down. Well, *I* have enough of them!

Thistle, I would love to see you in structured wide leg trousers.

Sona, a partial tuck will do the trick, clever girl. Pleae play around with the V on V look - start with a coloumn of colour. I would like to pair these trousers with a wide crop top actually. xo

Gorgeous - reminds me of this outfit with grey wide legged trousers I have pinned on one of my boards. I love that fluid look...if only I were 6 feet tall!

I loved this look and was curious how to pull it off. Does the tucked top need to be flowy as the blogger did here, or would a crisp button down work too?

Huh, perhaps I should rethink my stance against tucking into higher rise trousers. But I am so very short waisted.

Oh I just wore an outfit a bit like this! (As Diana mentioned.) I felt very elegant and put together (all 5'3", of my long torso-ed, short legged self), not to mention super comfortable thanks to the fluid pieces.

Lovely! I would definitely wear this, despite my short legs, though it certainly works even better on her. (I might even be convinced to wear that pink blouse - it's about the only pink that works on me.)

I was just going to comment on E's post - she wore pants like this recently. I love them. I think Beth Ann is after this look, too. I would for sure wear this, although probably with my little 1.5 or 2 inch heeled booties instead of flats.

Ooooh laaaa.....I so love these trousers. I have one pair in black, but am looking for a lighter pair for Spring/Summer. They are still quite difficult to find.

You know, I've been tempted to purge some of my shorter jackets --- the "shrunken" look that is questionable on my frame. Still, I wonder if a shorter jacket isn't best with these kind of trousers.

While flats are hard to pull off, I think wide legs can be balanced by a moderate heel -- 2 inches, perhaps.

Such a soft, flowy look! I would definitely have to wear these with heeled shoes though. No way could I pull off these trousers with a flat shoe.

I LOVE look, but my body type is so much different than the bloggers there would be a ton of adjustments... more structured top with no bow, higher heels, less contrast between top and bottom... and I still don't know if I would like it on me! But that is what's nice about fashion is that there's something different for everyone!

I adore this look beyond belief. Always have. This is exactly the look I was aiming for when I responded to your petite spots - flowy tailored cuffed pants a la Kate Hepburn.

So apropos your petites post, how does a 5'1" gal find the pants that make this look?

We can all add heels if flats don't work (especially the petites) - so no worries Suz and others. Love the photo Shannon provided. I'm sure the wearer is in heels.

MUST tuck the top. High waist and pleats are essential.

Diana, wear a column of colour or low contrast top and you'll be fine.

Lisa, a soft bloussoned tucked top definitely adds to the '40s vibe of the outfit. But of course a crisp button down will work too. So will a soft, fluid tucked pullover. Or oversized crop top.

Beth Ann, I like the idea of a shorter jacket for sure. Very '80s. I'm in.

I like this look but feel I have been here before. There are some things I can revisit and some I can't .... not sure exactly why. The more I think about it, I would have to wear a blouse without the bow. I do find it to be a very attractive look though.
