I'm still new to the jeans in boots look, and I can't help but feel I look like I should go outside and jump on a horse. Any tips on making this look less equestrian?

The jeans and boots look great. Maybe the sweater and/or belt are making you feel out of balance. Or perhaps the boots are on the short side. I'm not much help here, am I!
A story-I wore skinny jeans and a jacket the other day while shopping with my daughter. I felt akward and didn't know why. At the shoe dept I put on a pair of knee high suede boots and my daughter said, "You need to buy those and wear them out of here, the difference is amazing". Switching from the shoes I had on, to the boots, put me in balance and I didn't feel akward any longer.
To me the belt is a bit heavy looking being thick and heavy leather. Perhaps a thin belt, maybe a patent grey?

The boots are great. I sometimes get the horse thing from other people. I think maybe a thinner belt or longer top might make you feel more comfortable.

hehe, love the subject line. But you look great! I'd consider adding a fun little accessory in a totally different color, e.g. brooch, other jewelry, that'll help get rid of any riding associations.

I feel a bit "equestrian" too when I wear my tall boots, but it's kind of grown on me...I like it now. Now we get to be one of those cool "horsey" girls...I was never one of those!

I'd try a shorter top that hits at the hip/above the crotch to just elongate your leg line...? Great boots and they fit into your jeans so well!

I guess riding boots are, by nature, going to evoke an equestrian feeling! I just don't want to cross into "costume" territory, and I was wondering if the white shirt was tilting it a bit too much toward "Tally ho!"

But then I thought about what Patience said in a recent post - about really embracing a "look." I think she was taking about the oxfords and skirt look, and she said that when you do a specific look like that you really have to go for it - not go halfway. That stuck with me. I wonder if riding boots are a similar kind of thing?

I don't think you look equestrian at all, actually. Take the sweater off, put on a peplum jacket and a ruffled blouse, and THEN we might have to have a conversation. ;D

You look great! I'm with Antje--maybe you could add an interesting colorful accessory to the outfit. Also, if you wanted to go more equestrian (as you stated above--go for a "look", which I'm all for), I'd consider replacing the button down with a ruffled top, or wear a blazer instead of the sweater. That has a more of a horse vibe to it.
