Found some lilac in the closet

I'm trying Angie's gray-lilac-black ensemble idea today. (Here:

I realized I had a very, very pale lilac tee shirt and a medium heather purple sweater that I could wear with it.

Palest lilac shirt-tail hem tee (Fluxus)
Purple heather boxy sweater with back zip and side pockets (Caslon)
Medium heather gray short straight skirt (made by me)
Black tights
Black rough suede spat boots (Donald Pliner)
Silver dangle-hoop earrings (Marjorie Baer)
Purple specs

I'm wearing the outfit with a ruffled knit light gray heather cashmere scarf knit by a friend. I need the scarf for warmth on my neck this morning, although I may not need it later. I'm not sure whether I like the outfit better with or without the scarf.

Love the softness and texture in this look, FC! I think I prefer it without the scarf -- the two layered necklines are so nicely curved and harmonious. However, warmth is always first!

Oh My Goodness Firecracker! I think this is my favorite outfit that I've ever seen you post! The two different lilacs/purples are perfect with your hair and skin color. Love the boots too. I like this much better sans the scarf. I've got a big grin on my face because this outfit is so FAB!

Minimalist me prefers it without the scarf. And this dark shade of lilac is just so gorgeous! It looks wonderful with the pale lilac and the dark grey. The zipper detailing in the back is an unexpected and fab - "very Firecracker" - element. Love it.

I really, really like the layered minimalism here. The top and the skirt are both simple in a way that works so well together, and this is perfect on your figure. I would copy this in a heartbeat if I had a skirt like that - I should search for one that fits me like that, loose but structured.

(I agree with people who prefer it without the scarf. I think the ruffles work against the minimalist effect.)

It's encouraging to come back to all your comments about this outfit (after my day at work). I was thinking the outfit was maybe lacking a little--I don't know what! I guess I don't usually go for minimal looks, so it's a bit out of my comfort zone. I'm inspired to inject more minimal into my style.

Anna, I'm glad I didn't find iliac--ha ha! I was thinking that what I found in the closet was actually more wisteria than lilac, anyway!
I never did get to take off the scarf, although I agree I like the necklines without it. I tried the scarf without the fronts dangling down, but I didn't like the extra line at the neck that way. Wish I weren't so cold-blooded about the neck area, because I do like the way ballet necklines look on me.
