Finding my style

Hello! I have been following YLF for just a month or so. I'm trying to pick up some things that I like (i.e. belts, scarves, tights) but I'm feeling kind of schizophrenic. My style is classic simple and understated (I think), and I'm not so sure I want to go trendy and bold. I'm not into the multi-layered contrasting colors look, but I'll admit I there are probably some tweaks like I can start experimenting with.

Outfit 1 is my current style.

Outfit 3 is one I think I just really need a second opinion as to whether or not I should hang onto it. Can the right accessories liven it up?

I just read your comment under outfit 2- I don't see it as unprofessional and unpolished AT ALL! I'm no expert though on workplace fashion but I thought that outfit was quite polished and sophisticated.
also, you have some great dresses there in your photostream. Are they new?

I do have one word for you.... COLOR! I noticed in all your outfits, you have kept to alot of neutrals. A pop of color could really wake up those outfits

I think your wardrobe just needs to be a bit updated! The white suit looks dated to me. Like Queenie, I noticed you have some great dresses in your photostream. The shorter length on those is great on you! The prints are modern and more graphic and more on trend. It's a good look for you.

I really like outfit #2 and think it looks both professional and interesting. The pants in outfit #3 look too short for the shoes. It looks like you are wearing heels, so maybe they would work with flats. The whole outfit (#3) looks too big on you to me, especially in the shoulders. You might try breaking up the suit pieces. The white pants could be worn with the blazer in Outfit 1 and maybe add the belt from #2 over the blazer. Speaking of Outfit #1, try rolling the sleeves to 3/4 length on that blazer to show the lining. A scarf or man's tie could be used to add color and interest.

The first outfit is fine perhaps try adding a colored shirt underneath the jacket? A statement brooch?
The second outfit is great though perhaps the skirt is a bit long.
I agree with the others the white suit is a bit dated though the pieces might work seperate and the the trousers need lower shoes x

Wow! Thanks everyone for you feedback. You nailed my concerns on Outfit #3 - it's about 10 years old, and it's such a quality suit, I hated letting go of it. But I suspected it showed its age, and your comments helped to confirm that.

Also, thanks for those who mentioned the dresses. I was going to post those on YLF next.

RoseandJoan - I will definitely check out Susan D's. posts

And for everyone, thanks again. I think COLOR is the theme I'm taking away from this...

SHS, I agree with what others have said. I just want to add that you can wear more color without embracing the whole "multi-layered contrasting colors look". I also tend to be more comfortable in neutrals, but there are lots of ways to add a bit of color with jewelry, shoes, scarves, bags, etc.

I love the first and second outfit, so much. Seems, you had a great style before YLF, too:-)) But, the white suit, doesn't make sense with the black boots..perhaps you were just lazy, to change them:-), but anyway, wearring the suit in this way, it's a bit boring, for me. Please, try the pieces separately.
