Esprit dress has arrived!

Here's that dropped-waist shirtdress that many of us were excited about based on Angie's thread the other day. I won't say what I think, but here are two questions:

1. I can't wear this dress without skinnies or leggings. Correct?
2. Is there a better way to tie the scarf in the last picture?

1. I think you can wear them with skinnies or leggings; I like the look in your last picture!

2. Try taking both end around your neck a few times and knotting in the front; the scarf obscures a lot of the dress. Pretty scarf!

Overall impression -- I like the fit, but the color on you is so-so. Is it a shirt dress? It'd be cute worn like a long jacket with a bright colored tee and skirt or skinnies underneath.

I like it a lot and don't mind the color though I'm having a hard time telling exactly what color it is. Gray? Looks a little greenish to me but it could just be the computer playing tricks on me. I can't really tell if it's too short. since the front picture is cut off and it's hard to see from the side, but it looks great as a tunic with jeans. I see it with a cross body bag and some flats for a great MOTG outfit. Did you get your regular size? I would love to give it a try if it goes on sale.

I'm no scarf tying expert, so I'll leave that to those who know best (where is Hanna?).

I think that the dress is great, I think that you could wear it with or without skinnies and leggings. I love the color on you. I think that the scarf is beautiful but I am not sure if tit works with the dress. I agree that it obscures the details of the dress which are so flattering on your body type. I think earrings and a cuff might be all you need and maybe a colorful bag if you like the pop of color. You know that I love neutrals.

I love it! You can wear it with or without leggings but I think it looks fantastic with skinnies. I second the idea of a turquoise clutch and I would fold the scarf once more around my neck so it's shorter.Would that be too warm?

Thanks everyone! The color is hard to peg ... it's a greenish-grey (or a greyish green, whichever way you want to look at it). I'm going to try wrapping the scarf so it's a little shorter. I love the yellow & turquoise of the scarf with the dress. Otherwise, I'll try my yellow bag, and that will give it a bit of color.

I'm actually going to try this with Cons and skinnies for a MOTG look, and in the fall, maybe silver Docs?. No cross-body bag in my wardrobe but my yellow bag might do the trick.

Maya, this is a 6, my regular size. It's on sale from $99 to $69 right now -- maybe it will go on clearance for even less.

I hope to see the dress on Angie, Marianne, Inge ... whoever ordered it!

The last outfit is KILLER. That is how I fully intend to wear the item if it fits – but with pearls of course! I LOVE the colour and it looks SUPERB with the Brulees! Try knotting the scarf with the Angie knot?

I’d like to see it with leggings and I feel it’s too short to wear on its own.

I just spent 8 hours charging around town with a client in my Brulees – utter foot heaven. I’m thinking of duplicating. Hmmm.

How fab Laura! Love the look with skinnies. Looking at all of you in shirtdresses and skinnies, I'm sorely tempted to try skinnies, but am still very unsure. Sometime soon perhaps.

The last look with skinnies and scarf is really cool look. I love gray - so versatile and yet updated. Yellow and turquoise accessories really stood out against the gray.

I do think the long scarf overwhelms the outfit - maybe try a shorter scarf, or tie this one so it appears shorter (the color is great, though).

Angie, is your opinion that it is too short on its own universal? I was hoping to wear it on its own and over leggings/jeans (like my version of your cobalt dress)--well, at least once it gets a lot cheaper.

The last outfit is fantastic, Laura! I really liked the Esprit model styling, too. I did go back and ordered it after that discussion last week. I think it is too short to wear on its own, but I am hoping it would also work with leggings. And it's good to know about the size - I ordered my regular size but their stuff really varies.
Maya, I think you might get away with the length because of your age and height.

Maya, there is something about the dropped waist that doesn't work when worn on it's own. Perhaps it’s the camera angle – not sure.

How did I miss this dress when it was first discussed? It's fantastic, Laura! I really love it with the skinnies. I've been searching for a tunic, around this length, to wear exactly that way. Would you say Esprit is cut a bit smaller?

Tara, I would say it runs smaller than BR, AT, and the like. This dress is definitely right up your alley! I haven't tried it with leggings yet but think that's going to be a winner, too.

I've been trying to get my hands on one, but no luck so far: on the Belgium website it was sold out, now it's back but only in a 34 and 36... I've been in three bricks and mortar shops this weekend, but it's sold out there too. I shall admire it from afar on you and Marianne and Angie...
